Rock Hill, S.C. – Coming off another series of strong performances at the Gamecock Challenge last Saturday in which the Eagles took home another school record, the Winthrop men’s and women’s track and field programs continue their indoor season with two meets at the Doc Hale Invitational and the Liberty Open this weekend.

  • Several Eagles had strong performances at the Gamecock Challenge last Saturday as junior Johntavia Shaw continued her standout season with a fourth place finish in the shot put with a 13.41m effort
  • Junior Faith Wood continued her streak of strong triple jump performances with a fourth place finish on an 11.54m bound
  • Senior Kenneth Williams, Jr., opened his season in the high jump with a fourth place finish on a 1.97m clearance
  • Junior Jaden Mathieu backed up Williams in the high jump with an eighth place leap of 1.87m
  • Williams Jr. also notched a seventh place finish in the long jump with a leap of 7.00m
  • Junior Maurion Jamison and freshman Jaylen Bostic were seventh and the eighth in the men’s triple jump with 13m efforts
  • Junior Timothy Speaks registered an eighth place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 15.84m
  • Senior Kevin Brown finished sixth in the 60m dash in 6.91 seconds
  • The men’s 4×400 relay capped off the day’s action with a sixth place effort. The relay squad of freshman Kendale Cooke, junior Jurnii Lucas, Brown and sophomore Shane King posted a 3:16.69 clocking
  • This was a school record
