Dale Earnhardt Jr. will assume a new role this weekend at Pocono Raceway as the crew chief for JR Motorsports driver Connor Zilisch.

Earnhardt is filling in for Marty Lindley, who needs to serve a one-race suspension in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Lindley was penalized after the No. 88 team had two lug nuts that were not secure after the event at Nashville Superspeedway last month. The penalty was deferred for one week because of the logistics of the industry competing in Mexico City.

Zilisch is fifth in the Xfinity Series points. He has one victory (Circuit of The Americas) and six top-10 finishes. JR Motorsports fields four cars in the Xfinity Series for Zilisch, Justin Allgaier, Sammy Smith, and Carson Kvapil.

It will be Earnhardt’s first time serving as a crew chief in a NASCAR national series race. He is a two-time Xfinity Series champion.

Earnhardt will resume his primary job with Prime Video for the Sunday afternoon NASCAR Cup Series race. It is the final race in Prime Video’s five-week stint. TNT Sports will take over the baton beginning at Atlanta Motor Speedway (June 28). Earnhardt is also a member of the TNT broadcast team.
