Epicore’s latest raise will drive expansion into new industrial markets, smarter hydration and support biomarker validation
Epicore Biosystems is turning up the heat in the wearable health tech race. The company just announced a fresh $6 million in capital—bringing its total Series B raise to $32 million—as it looks to bring its sweat-sensing wearables to new markets.
The follow-on funding round brings in a new San Francisco-based investor and marquee angel backers, alongside continued support from Alumni Ventures and Joyance Partners.
Known for its innovative Connected Hydration wearable for industrial workers and athletes, Epicore’s technology measures sweat composition, fluid loss, skin temperature and other physiological signals to detect the early signs of fatigue, heat exhaustion and performance—delivering haptic alerts that help users stay ahead of performance dips and hydration.
The new capital will support Epicore’s expansion into the industrial markets in Australia, the Middle East and Asia, scale its real-time analytics for advanced personalized hydration guidance and validate novel biomarkers tied to kidney health and stress.
“We’re thrilled to have mission-driven investors onboard who recognize both the value of new data streams and the utility of biosensor technologies to transform safety, well-being and productivity,” Epicore Biosystems CEO and co-founder Dr. Roozbeh Ghaffari said.
The company already has a long list of enterprise partners across several sectors, including Chevron, PepsiCo, Gatorade, United Airlines, Bechtel, Denka, Nitto, the U.S. Air Force, the Office of Naval Research and the U.S. Army.
“Epicore’s biosensing technologies deliver precisely what large industries and enterprises need — science-backed digital tools to protect workers, boost productivity and improve lives,” Joyance Partners managing partner Michael Edelhart said. “We are proud to support the team’s efforts to fundamentally transform the way we approach hydration health, wellness and performance at a global scale.”
Also included in Epicore’s sweat-sensing wearables portfolio are the Gx Sweat Patch in partnership with PepsiCo and Gatorade for hydration and wellness management of athletes and the Discovery Patch Sweat Collection System (FDA Class I registered) for clinical trials.
