This isn’t the first occasion where GJHS has excelled in the esports arena. In 2023, the Rocket League team claimed the championship, demonstrating the school’s commitment to cultivating a vibrant and competitive esports environment. Coach Smith commended her players, stating, “I am incredibly proud of this group of students this season. They arrive at every practice eager to enhance their skills and gain more knowledge.”
The Fortnite team, under the direction of Baylee Gabbard and comprising a lively group of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, is gearing up to jump into action at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Although they are the lowest-seeded team in the semifinals, the Fortnite team has surpassed expectations, outperforming teams ranked higher, which showcases their talent, perseverance, and collaboration.
