The Esports World Cup Foundation, based in Riyadh, has revealed a multi-year collaboration with Activision’s Call of Duty League. This alliance has been referred to as ‘a crucial part of EWCF’s dedication to promoting the sustainable advancement of esports’ by the gaming enterprise from Saudi Arabia.
Details regarding the specifics of the partnership remain somewhat unclear, yet it arises shortly after the announcements of Black Ops 6 and Warzone being featured at the Esports World Cup in 2025.
‘Transformational Global Experience’
There are expectations that this partnership will extend beyond the Esports World Cup in 2025, however, today’s press release delivering this news was somewhat ambiguous regarding what this partnership signifies for COD esports.
In an announcement, the Chief Games Officer at the EWCF, Fabian Scheuermann, remarked:
Call of Duty is one of the most acclaimed games worldwide and has enchanted global audiences for generations. Together, we are forging new pathways for players, ranging from grassroots participants to elite competitors, to ascend in ranks and contest on the world’s largest platform.
As we aim to cultivate the greatest-ever celebration of esports excellence, we anticipate welcoming all participants into a transformational global experience, one that unites players, games, fans, and the entire esports sector under a single banner.
Daniel Tsay, the general manager of Call of Duty Esports at Activision, stated:
The Call of Duty League is excited to collaborate with the Esports World Cup to nurture the ongoing growth of competitive Call of Duty.
Our professional players and associated organizations enjoyed participating in last year’s EWC tournament and demonstrated how exhilarating pro-am competition can be. This partnership provides our players, community, and fans even more chances to engage with high-quality competitive Call of Duty for years to come.
This three-year partnership is expected to expand with more details in the upcoming weeks as the Call of Duty League 2025 season unfolds. It is set to begin today, featuring a series of matches throughout the weekend to reintroduce COD’s elite competitive framework.
