PUEBLO — The bustling sports weekend held in Pueblo last week is generating significant revenue for the Home of Heroes. Pueblo was the venue for four state championship football matches for high schools and two NCAA Division II playoff contests.
This event attracted visitors from across the nation. The Colorado State University (CSU) Pueblo Foundation reports that these occurrences contributed over $500,000 to Pueblo’s economy.
This figure is estimated based on the attendance at the sporting events combined with the spending on food, lodging, and various other local amenities.
“It’s a chance for us to give back to Pueblo, presenting it positively and making a difference not only for the restaurants and hotels and gas stations but also for their staff and families as those benefits spread throughout the community,” stated Todd Kelly from the CSU Pueblo Foundation.
The upcoming significant sporting event slated for Pueblo will be the NCAA Division II Track and Field National Championships, scheduled for May at CSU Pueblo.
