FanDuel NBA DFS Core Picks

Anthony Edwards – MIN – SG/SF ($9,200)

The Spurs defense has struggled against guards who can create off the dribble and knock down perimeter shots, which aligns perfectly with Reaves’ skill set. His ,500 salary is reasonable for his potential to exceed 40 FanDuel points if he gets hot, making him a sneaky upside play in a game where the Lakers should have the upper hand.
At just ,300, his salary is modest for a player with double-double potential and the ability to chip in with a handful of blocks. Washington’s lack of interior presence makes this an ideal matchup for Gobert to post a solid fantasy outing, offering stability for cash lineups and some sneaky upside for tournaments.

Julius Randle – MIN – PF ($7,400)

He’s been incredibly consistent in high-total games like this, and his ceiling of over 50 FanDuel points makes him an ideal centerpiece for any lineup. Whether you’re playing cash games or chasing upside in tournaments, Edwards offers a fantastic combination of reliability and slate-breaking potential on this slate.
Despite Miami’s strong defense, their primary focus will be on containing the Clippers’ stars, which should open up opportunities for Powell to find his spots and contribute. His ,900 salary is fair for a player who can score in bunches while adding modest contributions in rebounds and assists. Powell’s upside is tied to his ability to get hot from the field, making him a solid GPP pivot with the potential to exceed his salary if the shots fall.

Victor Wembanyama – SAS – C ($11,300)

Anthony Edwards is in a smash spot tonight against the Washington Wizards, who rank dead last in defensive efficiency. Washington’s inability to defend the perimeter plays directly into Edwards’ strengths, as he thrives in matchups where he can dominate as a scorer and playmaker. With Minnesota carrying an implied team total of 118.8, Edwards is poised to lead the offensive charge with his 30% usage rate.
With Jimmy Butler suspended, Haywood Highsmith steps into a larger role for the Miami Heat, making him one of the top punt plays on the slate. Highsmith has shown the ability to contribute across multiple categories when given minutes, and at near-minimum pricing, he offers significant upside relative to his salary.

Fred VanVleet – HOU – PG ($7,500)

Whether you’re playing cash games or GPPs, leveraging matchups and implied team totals will be critical. Let’s dive into my favorite Core plays, Tournament Plays, and Value plays for tonight’s slate.

Be sure to also check out all of our other daily fantasy basketball articles and analysis to help you set those winning lineups, including this new RotoBaller YouTube video:

Alperen Sengun has been nothing short of phenomenal for the Houston Rockets this season, and he’s positioned for another big night against the Memphis Grizzlies. Sengun’s ability to stuff the stat sheet with points, rebounds, and assists gives him triple-double potential every time he steps on the court.

FanDuel NBA DFS Tournament Pivots

Alperen Sengun – HOU – C ($9,500)

Austin Reaves presents a strong tournament option tonight against the San Antonio Spurs, who rank 25th in defensive efficiency. Reaves has demonstrated the ability to fill multiple roles for the Lakers, excelling as both a scorer and playmaker. This versatility makes him especially appealing in GPPs, where his upside can shine in a favorable matchup.

Austin Reaves – LAL – PG/SG ($7,500)

Julius Randle is an appealing mid-range option tonight in a matchup against the Washington Wizards. Washington has been one of the worst teams in the league at defending and rebounding in the paint, and this is the type of game where Randle can dominate. His ability to crash the boards and contribute as a secondary playmaker makes him a versatile DFS asset.
At ,400, his salary feels slightly discounted, especially given Minnesota’s high implied total of 118.8. With his consistent minutes and double-double potential, Randle is a strong core play in cash games. In tournaments, his ceiling grows even higher if he can contribute with defensive stats, which are always a possibility against a sloppy Wizards offense.

Norman Powell – LAC – SG/SF ($6,900)

Norman Powell has transitioned into a starting role for the Clippers, but his playing style still mirrors that of a fringe sixth man. While he isn’t the focal point of the offense, Powell’s ability to score efficiently makes him a strong tournament option. He thrives in situations where he can take advantage of defensive lapses, and against Miami’s slower pace, his lower ownership could provide an edge in GPPs.
Jaren Jackson Jr. offers slate-breaking potential in his matchup against the Houston Rockets. Known for his defensive prowess, JJJ can rack up blocks and rebounds at an elite rate, which pairs well with Houston’s aggressive and fast-paced style of play. The Rockets rank in the top tier of pace, creating additional possessions and opportunities for Jackson to pile up fantasy points.

Jaren Jackson Jr. – MEM – PF/C ($9,000)

Memphis has struggled to contain opposing guards, allowing a significant number of assists and three-point opportunities, both of which VanVleet thrives on. His salary makes him accessible for most lineup builds, and his strong upside in this pace-up environment makes him a core consideration for both cash games and tournaments.

Jaden McDaniels provides affordable access to the Timberwolves’ high implied total of 118.8, making him an attractive value option tonight. McDaniels has a well-rounded game, capable of contributing in scoring, rebounding, and defensive stats, which boosts his floor. His defensive versatility also keeps him on the court for extended minutes, giving him more opportunities to accumulate fantasy points.
At ,800, his salary allows for flexibility in lineup construction, enabling you to fit in higher-priced studs. Against a weak Wizards defense, McDaniels has a clear path to outperform his price tag.

FanDuel NBA DFS Value Picks

Rudy Gobert – MIN – C ($6,300)

While his salary is steep, his ability to rack up points, rebounds, blocks, and assists provides an elite floor with the potential for a 60+ FanDuel point outing. In a game with a relatively tight spread, expect San Antonio to lean heavily on Wembanyama to carry the offensive load, making him a must-consider option for GPPs and an anchor in your cash lineups.
Welcome back Rotoballers, Happy Monday! Tonight’s six-game slate brings a variety of matchups, from blowout potential in Minnesota at Washington to a pace-up shootout between Memphis and Houston. With injury news impacting key rotations, there’s a mix of elite plays, mid-range values, and low-cost sleepers to balance your lineups.

Jaden McDaniels – MIN – SF/PF ($4,800)

He’s not a safe cash game option due to his inconsistent role, but if he sees 20+ minutes, his upside is undeniable. For those willing to roll the dice in tournaments, Edey is an intriguing dart throw with the potential to crush his price point.
This article will provide my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel on 1/13/25. Remember to monitor NBA injury news and our awesome NBA injuries report tool, as the slate can completely change before lineups lock at 7:00 p.m. EST on FanDuel.

Haywood Highsmith – MIA – SF/PF ($4,000)

Rudy Gobert is an excellent value tonight, particularly in cash games, as he faces a Washington Wizards team that ranks near the bottom in both rebounding and defensive efficiency. Gobert’s role as a dominant rebounder gives him a high floor, especially against a team that struggles to keep opposing centers off the boards.
His offensive game has also shown flashes of dominance, particularly in matchups where he can exploit slower or less disciplined defenders. At ,000, Jackson is a strong tournament play who could deliver a massive ceiling if he gets going on both ends of the floor.

Zach Edey – MEM – C ($4,900)

Fred VanVleet has quietly been one of the most consistent fantasy contributors for the Rockets, and he’s in an excellent spot tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies. In what is expected to be the highest-scoring game of the slate with a 235.5 total, VanVleet’s minutes and role as a floor general make him an outstanding option at his salary. With a usage rate hovering around 20% and consistent playing time of 35+ minutes, he offers a solid combination of floor and ceiling.
Zach Edey is a high-risk, high-reward value option for GPPs. While his minutes are limited, his per-minute production makes him a tantalizing play at just ,900. Against a fast-paced Houston team, Edey’s rebounding and shot-blocking ability could allow him to rack up points in a hurry.

What makes him particularly intriguing for tournaments is his high salary, which may deter casual players from rostering him. In a pace-up game with a slate-high total of 235.5, Sengun has a massive ceiling, especially if Memphis struggles to contain his playmaking and ability to dominate the boards. He’s a great leverage play for those looking to gain an edge in large-field GPPs.The matchup against the Clippers isn’t ideal pace-wise, but the lack of other high-usage players in Miami’s lineup boosts his chances of hitting 25+ FanDuel points. If you’re looking for a low-cost option to free up salary for stars, Highsmith is a great choice.

Pitt Basketball Lands Long

The long-awaited commitment of Australian basketball star Roman Siulepa has become official.

Siulepa, the No. 1 prospect in Australia, has committed and enrolled to Pitt, a source tells Pittsburgh Sports Now.

PSN first reported that Pitt would land Siulepa and has since been working on monitoring Siulepa’s situation after it was revealed that he was a top target for the Pitt basketball program.

Sources indicated over the past few months that Siulepa was waiting to complete the FIBA U19 World Cup before committing. The 6-foot-7, 220-pound small forward put together an impressive tournament, averaging 18.9 points, 8.1 rebounds in 29 minutes per game, while hitting on 41.6 percent of his shots from the floor.

This comes as one of Capel’s biggest commitments of his Pitt tenure with Siulepa having major upside as an NBA prospect.

Siulepa is described as an “overpowering physical presence, that fears no battles or collisions and is terrifying in transition and is developing into an unstoppable force on the glass.”

Siulepa played a full season for the South West Metro Pirates in the NBL1 and the Tasmania JackJumpers and his teammate was former Pitt standout Lamar Patterson, who has been trying to recruit him to Pitt.

Last year before signing with the JackJumpers, Siulepa was one of the most sought-after international prospects before deciding to stay in Australia.

Siulepa won MVP of the NBA’s BaSiulepa won MVP of the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders Asia Camp and MVP of the Australian U20 National Championship.

This isn’t the first Australian prospect in Pitt’s 2025 recruiting class after the Panthers landed 6-8 forward Henry Lau out of Sydney, Australia.

Along with Roman Siulepa and Lua, Pitt’s freshman class includes Omari Witherspoon, Kieran Mullen and Macari Moore.

Pitt returns several other players, including Beebah Cummings, Cameron Corhen Papa Amadou Kante and Amdy Ndiaye. The Panthers have brought in four transfer portal prospects: Barry Dunning Jr., Damarco Minor, Nojus Indrusaitis, and Dishon Jackson.

Go behind the curtain of the WWE in the new trailer for the Netflix documentary WWE

Professional wrestlers famously break their bodies doing what they love to entertain the fans. In sports entertainment, wrestling’s rough nature has garnered a bevy of heartbreaking behind-the-scenes stories. But for the superstars, it all seems worth it. Now, you can hear it from the WWE superstars themselves as they tell their stories, which is accompanied by some rare backstage footage. Netflix has just released the trailer for WWE: Unreal. The documentary plays on the reputation of wrestling’s stigma with casual viewers — that it’s faked. However, it still has real-world consequences.

The stars featured in the five-episode documentary will include Triple H, Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green, Charlotte Flair, and Xavier Woods. The description reads, “For the first time ever, step into the WWE writer’s room and outside the ring with your favorite WWE Superstars, where the drama is just as intense offstage as it is under the spotlight.” Each episode will be 50 minutes in length. Omaha Productions, NFL Films, Skydance Sports and WWE bring this documentary to Netflix with Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ross Ketover, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers, Jessica Boddy, Lee Fitting, Ben Houser and Marc Pomarico as executive producers. Erik Powers is the showrunner and the series is directed by Chris Weaver.

The WWE has produced some incredible documentaries about their talent and programming over the years. Many of which offer deep dives you won’t get anywhere else. Considering Netflix has been on the multi-part documentaries train for a while now, this one focused on WWE should be an incredible combination. Paul “Triple H” Levesque – who serves as WWE’s CCO (taking over more duties once Vince McMahon left) – had previously teased, “Seven days a week, 365 days a year. This is a calculated, coordinated production…We’re gonna lift the curtain.”

Netflix acquired broadcast rights to WWE Raw last year for $5 billion. The streamer’s debut episode landed nearly 5 million views worldwide. In a press release a few months ago, Netflix said, “While full details remain under wraps, WWE: Unreal is part of Netflix’s rapidly growing partnership with WWE — one that kicked off in a major way in January 2025 with Raw, streaming live on Netflix on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.  Since the premiere, dozens of superstars have stepped into the WWE Raw ring, including The Rock, John Cena, and the Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, and the Raw after WrestleMania on Monday, April 21 is set to be the biggest spectacle of the year.”

WWE: Unreal starts streaming on Netflix on July 29. Look out for our interview with CM Punk and Rhea Ripley in the near future!

Netflix is weeks away from releasing a new docuseries in partnership with WWE that promises to give fans an unprecedented look behind the curtain. The five-episode series, titled “WWE: Unreal,” is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Netflix To Take Fans Inside The WWE Writer’s Room

The new series will take viewers into the WWE writer’s room for the first time ever, offering a look at the creative process and the drama that happens off-screen. The official logline for the series states: “For the first time ever, step into the WWE writer’s room and outside the ring with your favorite WWE Superstars, where the drama is just as intense offstage as it is under the spotlight.” A trailer for the new series has also been released.

High-Profile Production Team Behind The Series

“WWE: Unreal” comes from a team of high-profile producers, including Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions and NFL Films, who have previously collaborated on successful sports documentaries. Skydance Sports and WWE are also serving as production companies for the series, which is directed by Chris Weaver and showrun by Erik Powers. The project is the latest development in the landmark partnership between WWE and Netflix that began when Monday Night Raw moved to the streaming platform in January 2025.

The new docuseries promises to give a new perspective on the creative process in WWE. One of the company’s top stars, CM Punk, recently commented on the show, admitting he has mixed feelings about it. Due to his “old school” mentality of protecting the business, he said it feels “really strange” to let cameras so far behind the scenes, though he understands the show is for the fans.

UFC 318 staff picks include a defeat in Dustin Poirier's final fight and more predictions

Dustin Poirier bids farewell to the octagon when he battles Max Holloway in his final ever MMA fight at UFC 318.

“Diamond” is hanging up his gloves after UFC 318 at the end of an incredible 16-year career in MMA.

In that time, Dustin Poirier became a fan-favorite to UFC fans and even won the Interim UFC Light championship in 2019 from his upcoming opponent.

This fight will be Poirier’s third bout against Max Holloway, where he will be hoping to make it 3-0 at the top of a packed card at UFC 318.

However, Holloway is a different fighter from their earlier bouts and is now considered one of the greatest Featherweights in UFC history. He will want to finally get a win over Poirier in what will be a tense and emotional main event.

Ahead of UFC 318, the experts at Bloody Elbow have made their staff picks for the two main event fights, as well as the Performance of the Night and the Fight of the Night.

Max Holloway vs Dustin Poirier 3 prediction

While it would be a fantastic story to see Poirier going out with a win, the Bloody Elbow experts have unanimously predicted that Holloway will leave UFC 318 with the win.

Poirier hasn’t fought since losing to Islam Makhachev in June last year, as he missed out on the chance to become the UFC Lightweight champion proper.

“Diamond” has had a mixed record in the last few years, losing three of his last five fights since winning back-to-back bouts against Conor McGregor, in what were some of Poirier’s best performances to date.

This poor record at the end of his career hints that Holloway will win the fight against Poirier, at the third time of asking.

The Hawaiian fighter was on a three-strike win streak before being knocked out by Ilia Topuria, although it is hard to hold that loss against him, given how dominant Topuria has been since.

This should be a close fight between two icons of the UFC, but it is hard to look past Holloway when picking the winner in Poirier’s swansong.

Paulo Costa vs Roman Kopylov prediction

The co-main event of UFC 318 has been moved around a lot before finding its home just before Poirier’s final fight.

Paulo Costa vs Roman Kopylov was supposed to take place at UFC 317 before being moved to UFC 319, then back to this show on July 19.

Jordan is backing Kopylov to win the bout after picking up back-to-back wins in his last fights, while Costa is still licking his wounds after his UFC 302 loss to Sean Strickland.

Despite his record of four losses in his past five fights, Jamie, Donagh, and Ross are all predicting Costa to end his poor form to beat Kopylov in the fight, turning the tables on the Russian and ending his own good form in the process.

Fight of the Night

The main event is expected to be the best Fight of the Night at UFC 318, with Jamie, Jordan, and Ross all predicting it to win that night’s bonus.

Their previous two matches both impressed, and this being Poirier’s last fight, he will want to go all out to put on the best performance he can, even if he doesn’t walk out the winner.

However, Donagh thinks that the undercard bout between Dan Ige and Patricio Pitbull will win the Fight of the Night bonus.

Pitbull suffered defeat in his UFC debut, and time is running out to make himself a fixture in the promotion.

He will need to be at his best to take on Ige, who will hope to build on his KO win at UFC 314 to catapult himself towards a title shot, at the Brazilian’s expense.

Performance of the Night

The experts have three different picks for who will win the coveted Performance of the Night bonus at UFC 318.

Jamie is predicting Daniel Zellhuber to earn the Performance of the Night bonus when he takes on Michael Johnson.

The Mexican fighter is 3-2 in his UFC career so far, and he will hope to build some momentum against a fighter who handily beat his last two opponents to end a poor run of results.

Meanwhile, Donagh is backing Daniel Rodriguez to earn a $50,000 bonus at UFC 318. He is fighting the impressive Kevin Holland, who is deadly in the octagon but is susceptible when facing a top fighter, as Rodriguez hopes to be.

“D-Rod” has a history in boxing and is deadly with his hands in the UFC, so he will be aiming for a knockout win against Holland at UFC 318.

Finally, both Ellis and Ross think that Ige will have too much for Pitbull on July 19 and will put away the Bellator legend, potentially for good, in his second UFC fight.

Kentucky recruiting update on Tay Kinney and Jordan Smith

The Kentucky basketball staff continues to lay the groundwork for its 2026 recruiting class, with 5-star guards Jordan Smith Jr. and Tay Kinney among their top targets.

Smith, a dynamic scorer and elite perimeter defender, was planning to wait until next spring to commit, due to the uncertainty created by the transfer portal.

However, he recently told Joe Tipton of On3 and Rivals his timeline is now “up in the air.” That news opens the door for Mark Pope and the Wildcats to stay aggressive in their pursuit.

Smith doesn’t have any official visits set yet, according to Tipton, but Kentucky is one of the seven schools he hopes to visit, along with Arkansas, Duke, Louisville, Syracuse, Indiana, and Georgetown.

While Tipton believes Arkansas and Duke are early favorites, Pope’s fast-paced, NBA-style offense and Kentucky’s tradition of sending guards to the league continue to resonate with top talent.

Meanwhile, Pope and his staff are also keeping a close eye on Kinney, a top-15 point guard who’s drawing serious attention across the country. Louisville is thought to be in a strong position, and while the Wildcats remain in the mix, another SEC school could be surging ahead.

Kinney recently scheduled an official visit to Arkansas, who is becoming a significant player in this recruitment, according to Tipton.

“I really think Arkansas is shaping up to be a serious contender,” Tipton wrote.

Texas, Oregon, Indiana, and Purdue are also involved.

Both Smith and Kinney would fit seamlessly into Pope’s offensive system, with their versatility and high motors. As Kentucky reshapes its identity under Pope, securing a dynamic backcourt duo in the 2026 class could be pivotal to building a future national title contender.

Five of the best sports documentaries of all time (and where to watch them)

Here is a collection of the most exciting, nail-biting, emotional documentaries you’ll ever see.

The great thing about sports documentaries is that they can cover a huge, HUGE amount of events. Obviously, the stuff that immediately comes to mind are the huge sporting events from around the world, but if you think smaller, think more niche, there is very likely a fantastic documentary dealing with that event too.

Fascinated by deep-sea diving? A must-watch for you is The Deepest Breath. A lover of e-sports? Then you have to check out The King Of Kong. Looking for something completely left field but still super competitive? Spellbound is the one for you, set in the world of spelling bees.

Sports fans tend to follow more than just the games—news, stats, even things like betting offers often come up in the mix. These documentaries tap into that same wide interest, showing how deep the love for competition can go.

See what we mean? There is quite literally something for everyone. Whittling down that list to five of the best is tough, but these picks are tremendous, and some of the best movies ever made, not just under the banner of sports documentaries.

So on with our five picks, and where to watch them* right now:

Free Solo – Disney+

From the description alone, you would be forgiven for thinking this isn’t going to be THAT interesting a watch, as the documentary profiles rock climber Alex Honnold on his quest to perform the first-ever free solo climb of a route on El Capitan, a vertical rock formation found in Yosemite National Park in California. So you’ll have to trust us when we tell you this is one of the most edge-of-your-seat movies you’ll ever see, and it proved to be so impressive that it went on to win the Best Documentary Oscar back in 2019.

Murderball – rent on Apple TV

This documentary focuses on the intense rivalry between the American and Canadian wheelchair rugby teams in the run-up to the 2004 Paralympic Games taking place in Athens, Greece. We get to know the players and their families, who all talk openly and frankly about their injuries, personal lives, and the love of the game that has them all vying for the gold. This movie was nominated for Best Documentary at the 2006 Oscars, but lost out to March of the Penguins.

Icarus – Netflix

Some of the best documentaries are those that begin filming with something specific in mind – in this case, director Bryan Fogel wanted to expose the inadequacy of the procedures to catch athletes using performance-enhancing substances – but become something else over the course of the movie being made – here, the World Anti-Doping Agency’s investigation of doping in Russia led to the head of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory to flee his country and become a whistleblower. Icarus went on to win the 2018 Best Documentary Feature Oscar.

Senna – Netflix

Arguably one of the best and most impactful documentaries not to even be nominated for an Oscar, this film tells the story of much-loved Brazilian motor-racing champion Ayrton Senna. Directed by Asif Kapadia (who went on to win an Oscar in 2016 for his Amy Winehouse documentary), it tells us about Senna’s life, death, and intimate rivalry with fellow driver Alain Prost through archival race footage and home video recorded by Senna’s friends and family.

When We Were Kings – Sky/NOW

Another Best Documentary Picture winner, focusing on the night of The Rumble in the Jungle in 1974. Betting offers on underdog Muhammad Ali were 4-1 against the then-unbeaten, heavy-hitting George Forman. It took director Leon Gast over 22 years to edit and finance before it could be released in 2006, when it was met with immediate critical acclaim, and the movie is still considered to be one of the best sports documentaries ever made.
