IRVING, Texas – Baylor football achieved a total of 15 All-Big 12 honors, comprising four first-team selections, a second-team acknowledgment, and 10 honorable mention recognitions, as announced by the conference office on Thursday for the 2024 awards.

Redshirt junior Josh Cameron (KR/PR), sixth-year senior Matt Jones (LB), redshirt sophomore Keaton Thomas (LB), and sophomore Palmer Williams (P) were all honored with All-Big 12 First Team selections, while redshirt junior Michael Trigg (TE) earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team.

Cameron also garnered votes as a wide receiver, achieving honorable mention honors alongside junior Omar Aigbedion (OL), redshirt senior Lorando Johnson (DB), redshirt senior Treven Ma’ae (DL), redshirt junior Jackie Marshall (DL), and senior Gavin Yates (FB).

Furthermore, three different Bears were recognized with votes for four “Of the Year” awards, namely Cameron (Special Teams Player of the Year), Thomas (Defensive Newcomer of the Year), and redshirt freshman running back Bryson Washington (Offensive Freshman of the Year, Offensive Newcomer of the Year).

The combined five first- and second-team selections match Baylor’s highest total in a single season since they achieved seven in 2021.

As one of the top return specialists in the nation, Cameron led the conference with a 20.7-yard average over 14 punt returns in 2024. He amassed a total of 290 return yards, ranking fourth nationally, which included a career-best 73-yard return at Texas Tech down to the 1-yard line. For his exceptional return abilities, Cameron was also included in the Jet Award’s midseason watch list, which honors the top return specialist in the country.

Hailing from Odessa, Texas, Jones delivered his most impressive season in the green and gold, achieving a career-high 103 tackles, including 61 solo efforts. He contributed 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks, along with six pass breakups, a forced fumble, and his first career fumble recovery. Jones recorded six games with double-digit tackles, which is the most by a Bear in a single season since Bryce Hager’s six in 2012.

In his inaugural season in Waco, Thomas made an impact by leading the team with 107 total tackles, the highest for a Bear in a single season since Terrel Bernard’s 112 in 2019. Thomas recorded seven tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, as well as one interception, a pick-six he returned 35 yards in the season opener against Tarleton. He produced four games with double-digit tackles in 2024, including three straight contests against TCU, at West Virginia, and at Houston.

Williams punted 41 times for 2,034 yards this season, topping the Big 12 with a Baylor school-record average of 49.6 yards per punt. In 2024, the sophomore from Advance, N.C., executed 21 kicks over 50 yards and pinned 14 punts inside the 20-yard line. Williams had a standout performance at Utah in Week 2, breaking a school record with a 62.7-yard average per punt, with notable kicks of 57, 60, 76, and 79 yards, making him the first Bear in program history to achieve two punts over 70 yards in the same game.

A versatile option in the receiving corps and a difficult matchup for most defenses, Trigg secured 30 receptions this season for 395 yards and three touchdowns. The redshirt junior transfer tight end recorded a minimum of three catches in six games this year, including a season-high of six receptions at Iowa State in Week 6. His 96-yard outing at Houston in Week 13, highlighted by a 42-yard one-handed catch, represented a season benchmark.
