As I sip my morning coffee and check in on the latest mountain happenings, I came across an exciting announcement from Wisp Resort. Wisp is offering FREE lessons to all first-time skiers and snowboarders! Yup, you read that right—free lessons! As a snowboard instructor, this immediately caught my attention. I can’t stress enough how much a lesson can enhance your mountain experience. And no, tips from friends, family, or your significant other don’t count. There’s an art to teaching snow sports; and just because someone is good at skiing or snowboarding doesn’t mean they’re a good teacher. In fact, I highly recommend avoiding learning from friends or family (even if they are professional instructors). The process of learning to ski or snowboard can be frustrating, and it’s much easier to take out those frustrations on someone you know. That can lead to tension, yelling, or quitting and in extreme cases, divorce! Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic but I’m trying to help save relationships here!
