The Rock combo guard Joseph Hartman is improving his stock every time he's stepped on the hardwood since the spring of 2024. An Adidas circuit championship this summer alongside his best friend Martay Barnes is just an added bonus.Since he's played in several high-profile tournaments including the Iverson Signature Series Blackout Showcase hosted at The Villages High School, the added attention is helping the Gainesville native's recruitment and high-major programs are calling.Over the last two weeks, we've talked to Hartman and several other Florida high school basketball prospects hearing from colleges around the country. Let's break down their recruiting and what they're doing to improve their game.Hartman, a Gainesville native, comes into 247Sports' most recent rankings update as the 141st prospect in the country. On Day 2 of the Iverson Classic, he rested after scoring 21 points in the first half of a win over Crossroads (Quincy). The 6-foot-5 combo guard has been picking up steam in high-major circles since the summer. He names Michigan, among others, showing interest in the 2026 prospect. While most players his age are squaring off against middle school opponents, he's excelling 20 games into his varsity career. Brooks is a quick-twitch guard who uses his speed to dart to the basket and pressure ball handlers on defense. After Brooks scored a game-high 24 points, Valdosta State and Wichita State were the first programs to reach out to the Hialeah coaching staff.Symon Ghai, 2026, Academy of Central FloridaGhai's muscular 7-foot-3 frame makes him a standout on every basketball court he steps on. In three years of organized basketball, he’s shown defensive potential, ability to run the floor and great physical genetics with a 7-foot-1 father and 6-foot-7 mother. He’s garnered attention from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Bryant, Missouri State, and UCF. The junior is Improving his discipline, fighting for position, and working on his touch for what could be a breakout summer.Delancy comes in as the fifth-best shooting guard in the country in the class of 2027. His 18 points per game paces Gibbs High School, the 40th-ranked team in high school basketball. He counts Texas A&M and Rice as newly interested programs. Oregon, West Virginia, Kennesaw State, Hampton, Florida A&M, USF and Georgia Southern have all extended offers. Delancy is developing mid-range game, trying to get to spots and learning to make an impact against elite size to expand his game.Martay Barnes, 2027, Academy of Central FloridaBarnes saw a slight slide in his rankings but remains a top-five combo guard in the nation. The electric scorer dropped 36 points against Westminster on Day 1 of the Iverson Showcase. After the game, he talked about expanding his game through defensive intensity, leadership and shooting. The sophomore guard holds an offer from UCF. Michigan, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Florida have all been in contact with his coaches this season.Jared Thompson, 2026, The VillagesThompson made school history when he canned nine threes on 14 attempts against Westminster. As a 6-foot-3 combo guard who can defend both guard spots, make smart play and space the floor, he has garnered a handful of offers. He cites offers from Queens and Stetson University and interest from Samford, Florida Gulf Coast, Mercer and North Carolina A&T University, among others.Lyrique Sartin, 2025, Bell Creek AcademySartin has taken his senior leadership role very seriously. His 23.4 points per game rank 25th in the state, and his 5.4 assists a game is 21st. His standout season has invited in a handful of Florida programs like Florida Southern, Hillsborough Community College, Pasco Hernando, Eckerd College, and Saint Leo. Bethune Cookman has visited him at practice, will host him on a visit soon and is scheduled to watch him play Mainland on Saturday, February 1st.Toni Bryant, 2026, North Tampa Christian AcademyBryant's stock has soared over the last year as the 6-foot-10 forward continues to showcase elite potential on both sides of the court. In the most recent national recruiting update, he was named the best 2026 prospect in the state. Considering the depth and talent of the class, it's an honor and enough for NBA scouts to take notice. His name has already popped up on the 2027 NBA Draft boards, with over two dozen high major offers from Kansas, Texas, Florida State, Michigan and Illinois. UCF and Duke also are showing interest.
