LIONS FROM FOLSOM. THE STARTING QUARTERBACK FOR THE FOLSOM BULLDOGS, NUMBER THREE RIDER LIONS, WHO WAS NAMED AS THE GATORADE PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOR THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, WAS ALSO SELECTED BY THE SAN FRANCISCO 40 NINERS TO REPRESENT THE BAY AREA AND THE 40 NINERS TEAM DURING A NATIONAL SKILLS COMPETITION DURING THE WEEK OF THE SUPER BOWL IN NEW ORLEANS. AND WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HIM IS THAT HE GIVES SO MUCH TO HIS COMMUNITY AND TO HIS CHURCH. HE GIVES SO MUCH TO HIS YOUTH GROUP, AND I THINK THAT’S MORE IMPORTANT BECAUSE THAT’S GOING TO GET YOU THROUGH LIFE THAN IT IS FOOTBALL. SO GREAT HONOR RIDER. IT’S A PLEASURE TO HAVE THE 40 NINERS ASKED ME TO PRESENT YOU WITH THIS BAD BOY RIGHT THERE, BROTHER. YES, SIR. WHEN YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT QUARTERBACKS, YOU KNOW HE’S THE GATORADE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. HE’S, YOU KNOW, FIVE STAR THIS AND THAT WAS REALLY A BIG DEAL IS WHEN YOU CAN MAKE YOUR TEAMMATES BETTER. SO THEY’RE GOING TO BE DIFFERENT COMPETITIONS THAT HE’LL BE ABLE TO COMPETE IN WHEN HE GOES TO NEW ORLEANS. AND SO THEY’LL BE ONE ON ONES. THERE’LL BE ALL THESE DIFFERENT DRILLS THAT WILL SHOWCASE HIS ABILITIES AND WHO HE IS AS A STUDENT ATHLETE. THE NIKE, THE NEXT ONE’S AWARD CELEBRATES ONLY THE TOP 32 ATHLETES FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY THAT WILL REPRESENT EACH NFL TEAM. WHERE YOUR SUCCESS ON AND OFF THE FIELD MATTERS. JUST GRATEFUL FOR EVERYTHING. I MEAN, YEAH, I TRY TO BE TRY TO BE JUST THAT’S THE ATTITUDE. GRATEFUL FOR ALL THIS. NONE OF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT THIS COMMUNITY OF FOLSOM. OBVIOUSLY. I MEAN, IT’S IT’S A PRETTY INCREDIBLE THING. I MEAN, I’M ONE OF THE 32 ATHLETES THAT GOT INVITED IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY, WHICH IS JUST JUST ANOTHER BLESSING FOR ME. JUST TRY TO BE HUMBLE, STAY HUMBLE AND JUST BE GRATEFUL. ON THE FIELD. RYDER LYONS, A SIX FOOT THREE INCH QUARTERBACK, LED THE FOLSOM BULLDOGS TO A SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP AND A NORCAL BOWL BERTH THIS YEAR, PASSING FOR ALMOST 3000 YARDS ALONG WITH 44 TOUCHDOWNS. AS A QUARTERBACK, IT’S EASY TO LOOK GOOD WHEN YOU’RE PLAYING AT FOLSOM. YOU GOT THE BEST, THE BEST COACHES. I MEAN, COACH DAUGHERTY, YOU GUYS INTERVIEWED HIM. HE’S SPECTACULAR, COACH COACH DAUGHERTY, OUR O LINE PLAYED PHENOMENAL THE WHOLE TWO SEASONS I’VE BEEN HERE. RECEIVERS COME DOWN WITH BIG CATCHES. AND ULTIMATELY OUR DEFENSE. I MEAN GIVE ME THE BALL MULTIPLE CHANCES EVERY SINGLE GAME. TURNOVERS POINTS ON DEFENSE. SO YEAH LIKE LIKE I WAS SAYING IT’S EASY TO LOOK GOOD WHEN YOU’RE SURROUNDED BY SO MUCH HELP AND SUCH A GREAT COMMUNITY LIKE THIS. I MEAN, FOLSOM IS INCREDIBLE. OFF THE FIELD, LYONS HAS VOLUNTEERED LOCALLY AS A YOUTH FOOTBALL COACH, WHILE ALSO DONATING HIS TIME TO MULTIPLE COMMUNITY CHARITY GROUPS THROUGH HIS CHURCH YOUTH PROGRAM. SOME OF THOSE AWARDS ARE NOT JUST FOOTBALL, YOU KNOW, THEY’RE BASED ON OTHER THINGS. AND HE IS THAT GUY. HE’S VERY COMMUNITY BASED, FRIENDLY, BASED. HE’S VERY SMART WITH HIS SCHOOLWORK, YOU KNOW, SO THAT AS A MOTHER MAKES ME PROUD BECAUSE HE’S TURNING INTO THIS AMAZING, WELL-ROUNDED HUMAN BEING. AND THEN HE HAPPENS TO BE JUST SUPER, SUPER GOOD AT FOOTBALL. AND WHAT’S EVEN MORE SPECIAL ABOUT RYDER LYONS IS THAT HE MAINTAINS A 4.0 GRADE POINT AVERAGE, AND HE STILL HAS ONE YEAR LEFT OF VARSITY FOOTBALL HERE AT FOLSOM HIGH SCHOOL IN FOLSOM, DEL RODGERS KCRA 3 SPORTS. LOOK FORWARD TO FOLLOWING WHERE HE GOES AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. THE COMPETITION FOR THOSE 32 PLAYERS REPRESENTING THEIR RESPECTIVE NFL TEAMS WILL TAKE PLACE OVER TWO DAY
