On Friday, Hernando High School hosted a signing event for two members of their girls’ soccer team. That morning, Annabelle Chamberlain and Skyla McCorts officially completed their letters of intent to play for Pasco-Hernando State College in the upcoming season.
The pair of Leopards players have been key starters for the Purple and Gold over the past four years and serve as captains as well. The seniors have guided their team to a 4-2 record this season, having outscored their opponents 29-2 in their wins.
Hernando High’s Girls Soccer Head Coach David Schrader expressed high praise for his players in a statement to the Hernando Sun on Tuesday. “Annabelle is a highly accomplished student who keeps up her excellent grades, attendance, and respected leadership,” remarked Coach Schrader. “Skyla is a motivating leader both on and off the field, excelling academically and achieving perfect attendance for her second year in the soccer program.”
“Both have refined their soccer abilities through commitment that extends beyond regular team practices,” added Coach Schrader. “They share a solid friendship, engage in community service, demonstrate team leadership, and showcase their self-discipline, which will make them outstanding citizens in the future.”

The head coach also acknowledged assistant coach Carlos Oliveros for his role in training and nurturing Hernando’s skilled seniors. The coach has been a “valuable asset,” and together with Shrader and the seniors, they aim to lead their team to a successful second half of the season with the Citrus Hurricanes scheduled for December 2nd.
When they arrive on campus to play for the Bobcats next season, Chamberlain and McCorts will reunite with former Leopards Serena Huber and Jackie Cuevas as teammates. “Congratulations to these two young women on their chance to continue their soccer journey,” said Shrader.
