Forbes Posts Double-Double Versus Hokies
WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW dropped a pair of matches to Lindenwood (3-1) and Virginia Tech on the opening day of the Hampton Inn and Suites Seahawk Classic on Friday at Hanover Hall.
In their first match against Lindenwood, the defending Ohio Valley Conference champions, Avery Markham paced the Seahawks with 14 kills and Coley Shiflet added 16digs.
The Seahawks captured the opening set, 25-23, but the Lions rallied to win the next three sets, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-13.
In the day’s finale, Hannah Forbes posted a double-double of 15 kills, tying her career highs, and a career-best 12 digs. Olivia Heidel recorded a double-double of 30 assists and 12 digs.
The Seahawks wrap up their opening weekend on Sunday with a 2 p.m. first-serve against North Carolina Central, which also dropped a pair of matches on Friday.
