Formula 1 announced a 10-year extension with the Miami Grand Prix on Friday that will ensure the event remains on the calendar through 2041.
“From our standpoint, it enables us to say that this event is here to stay for a very long time,” said Tom Garfinkel, managing partner of the Miami Grand Prix. “Securing a 10-year extension with Formula 1 through 2041 is an extraordinary milestone for all of us at South Florida Motorsports and a true testament to the hard work of our team, the strength of our partnerships, the support of our community and the growth of the sport in the United States.”
The race debuted in 2022 as the second F1 race in the United States on the schedule. Sunday’s running will be the fourth in what was originally a 10-year contract between Miami promoters and F1.
There are now three F1 races in the U.S. every year. Las Vegas was added to the schedule in 2023 and F1 also makes a stop at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
F1 president Stefano Domenicali stressed how vital Miami is to the series’ portfolio as it continues to grow dramatically in the U.S.
“In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar, an extraordinary example of quality and vision that truly represents the spirit and ambition of Formula 1 in the United States,” Domenicali said. “Extending this agreement until 2041 is a strategic milestone of enormous importance, which strengthens our presence in America and consolidates the ever-deepening bond with our fan base there, which is constantly growing and passionate like never before.”
The Miami extension comes two days after F1 announced a three-year extension with Mexico City. The difference, though, is that Mexico City in the final year of its existing contract.
The Miami race, meanwhile, was touted as a key event in F1’s focus on North American growth, as well as the impact the race has on South Florida. The Miami Grand Prix has generated more than $1 billion in economic impact in its first three runnings.
South Florida Motorsports, the official promoter, has established internship programs, worked with local charities, and promoted home-grown businesses each year to build a community relationship around the grand prix. South Florida Motorsports was named 2024 F1 “Promoter of the Year.”
Promoters claim a record 275,000 spectators attended three days of activities last year and the race attracted the largest U.S. F1 television audience of all time, with 3.1 million viewers.
The Miami Grand Prix is held around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, home of the Miami Dolphins, the ATP and WTA Miami Open, and seven matches at next year’s soccer World Cup.

With the excitement surrounding NASCAR’s return to Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez this summer, NASCAR officials are expecting more cars to make the trek south of the border than the usual field size permits.
To ensure that those who make the trip to Mexico City are rewarded by at least starting the race, and only for that weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the field will expand to a maximum of 40 cars. However, there are special rules regarding points for those starting in the 39th and 40th positions.
Those who qualify 39th and 40th will be allowed to race but will not earn prize money, points, or playoff benefits for their effort. This exemption means they will not receive driver or owner points, stage points, playoff admission, or playoff bonus points.
If the 39th or 40th-place entry wins the race, the second-place driver will receive the first-place driver and owner points, and so on throughout the field. This methodology is also applicable to stage points.
However, if the 39th or 40th starter wins the race, second place “will not receive the benefits associated with the win, including eligibility for the Playoffs.” Furthermore, in this scenario, regarding the playoff points awarded for winning a stage, “the 2nd place vehicle in the Stage and/or race will not receive Playoff Points.”
These changes make qualifying day all the more important, as a car that crashes or has an off day could waste an entire race weekend. Of course, this will only really matter to drivers racing for the Series championship.
As usual, a flurry of back markers and open entries is expected to make their way to Mexico City that weekend. This will likely include road course ringers and hometown favorites such as Daniel Suarez, who announced his entry into the race with JR Motorsports on Tuesday morning.

BROCKVILLE, ON – When it comes to providing Southeastern Ontario race fans with the best in family motorsports entertainment, the show must go on. Even after losing back-to-back dates to the whims of Mother Nature, Brockville Ontario Speedway’s marketing team is ready for the next event on the venue’s 2025 line-up.
“I can’t recall a time when we’ve had a pair of wash outs in a row. Hopefully, it isn’t a sign of things to come,” said Brockville Speedway track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland. “Our team will be working with the racers, teams and sanctioning groups to make up any of the dates we lost due to the weather as space on the schedule becomes available and we’ll keep everyone apprised of the details as soon as they become available.”
Next on the schedule at the popular Southeastern Ontario venue on Temperance Lake Road will be a night of racing presented by Superior Cellular and Sound to close out the first month of regular season action. On the docket will be the DIRTcar Small Block and Sportsman-Modifieds, Novice Sportsman, Surprenant Truck Shop Crate Sprints and Street Stocks.
June’s action will be highlighted by the return of the Empire Super Sprints, presented by L.A. Knapp Construction Saturday, June 21st. It will be first of a pair of ESS dates on this year’s schedule, as the popular travelling group celebrates its 41st season with a return to ‘The BOS’ Saturday, August 2nd. Davie Franek scored the tour’s most recent Brockville Ontario Speedway win on August 3rd of 2024.
As the season rolls on, marquee events will continue to highlight the track’s 2025 schedule. The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds will be back at Brockville Speedway Wednesday, July 30th for a 75-lap Canadian Classic that pays $ 7,500 to win. For the first time since 2019, there will be a second Big Block date on the calendar as the tour is back Friday, October 17th for a 100 lapper with a $ 10,000 payday to kick-off this year’s edition of the Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals.
The championship clinching 100-lap 358 Modified and 50-lap Sportsman-Modified finale will highlight the Saturday, October 18th Fall Nationals action.
Don’t miss any of the dates on the 31st consecutive season of track promotion by the Kirkland family at Brockville Ontario Speedway. For the latest news and full schedule information, see www.brockvillespeedway.com or the track’s social media platforms and pages.

On Tuesday afternoon, NASCAR released the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, and the entry list contains 39 cars, which will make the trip to the track in Lebanon, just outside of the Music City.
There are no real surprises among the 36 Chartered entries, which compete each week in the NASCAR Cup Series, but there will be three “Open” entries among the notables.
The most notable among the “Open” cars will be the return of Corey Heim behind the wheel of the No. 67 Toyota Camry XSE for 23XI Racing. Heim will carry primary sponsorship from Chief’s, a Nashville bar owned by country music star Eric Church, on his race car.
At Kansas Speedway, Heim’s most recent NASCAR Cup Series outing with 23XI Racing, the driver recorded an eye-opening 13th-place result. Heim, 22, is a standout in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ranks, and he is already up to four victories through the opening 11 races of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.
The young racer from Georgia already has 15 victories in just 75 career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts.
JJ Yeley will return to the No. 44 NY Racing Team’s Open entry Chevrolet a week after Derek Kraus piloted the car to a 32nd-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Yeley will have primary sponsorship from Fanatics Sportsbook on his race car.
Rounding out the lineup for the Open entries in the field this weekend will be Chad Finchum, a Tennessee native, who will once again pilot the No. 66 Garage 66 Ford Mustang Dark Horse this weekend. Finchum will have sponsorship from Aires as he makes his second NASCAR Cup Series start of the season.

With 39 to 40 cars expected to make the trip to Mexico City for the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series event at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez road course, NASCAR has made a rule book change to ease the burden for teams making the commitment to attempt to race in the event.
If necessary, NASCAR is allowing up to two additional entries to make it into the starting field, which would increase the NASCAR Xfinity Series field size from 38 cars to 40 with new provisionals called “International Provisionals”.
Any team utilizing the 39th or 40th starting position for the event will not be eligible for prize money associated with the event regardless of its finishing position. The teams will also not receive driver or owner points for the race or Stage finishing position. All other vehicles that finish behind the “International Provisional” teams will be elevated and receive points accordingly.
Additionally, “International Provisional” teams will not receive credit for winning the race if they were to win or any of the Playoff benefits associated with the win. In this instance, the second-place finisher would receive first-place points, but would also not receive the benefits associated with the win, including eligibility for the Playoffs. “International Provisional” teams would also not receive any Playoff points associated with a Stage and/or race win. In the instance of one of the provisional teams winning a Stage, the second-place finisher in the Stage will also not receive the Stage and/or race Playoff Points.
So, what is the benefit to racing for the “International Provisional” teams if they can’t earn any prize money, can’t accumulate any points or Playoff Points, and can’t be credited with a win?
Simply put, teams sell sponsorship space on their cars with the expectation that the car will make it into the race, and have a chance to be showcased on the race broadcast. By allowing 40 cars to start, which would in theory keep anyone from not making the race, this will allow teams to guarantee to a sponsor or potential sponsor that their logo will be on the track for the race.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series The Chilango 150 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is set for Saturday, June 14. That race will be televised on The CW, and TV coverage of the event will begin at 4:30 PM ET.
