The Bryant Hornets cross country and track team had four athletes earn All-State honors for the 2025 track season: Graci Lewis, Dakota McNab, Jayden Welch and Matthew Nelson.
Lewis placed first in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 2 inches at the Meet of Champions at Harding University. She was involved in a three-way jump-off and became the only competitor to clear the height on the second attempt.
“I’ve put in a lot of work, and I’m glad it paid off. I’m very proud of myself and my teammates for our accomplishments,” Lewis said.
At the Heptathlon in Fayetteville, McNab placed third in the state. Competing in the event for the first time, she finished second in the 100-meter hurdles.
“Finding out I received All-State honors was such an exciting moment! It truly means the world to me, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent the Hornets,” McNab said.
Welch placed third in the State Decathlon Championship, earning All-State honors with a school-record point total of 6,309. He also broke the school record in the high jump with a clearance of 6-7.25 and recorded the third-fastest 110-meter hurdles time in school history at 14.61 seconds.
Nelson recorded the fastest 300-meter hurdles time in the state this year with a 38.50 finish at the Class 6A state meet. He also posted the second-fastest 110-meter hurdles time in school history at 14.50 seconds while placing second in the event.
“Jayden and Matthew established themselves as two of the elite track athletes in the state of Arkansas,” said head coach Steve Oury. “Both of them are outstanding young men. They are very coachable and are great teammates. We are very proud of both of them.”
