OXFORD, Miss. – Four members of the No. 15 Ole Miss softball program have been tabbed to Softball America’s April Power Rankings, as the publication recently announced.
Freshman pitcher Miali Guachino was named as the No. 10 pitcher in the nation, while her bullpen mate Aliyah Binford was tabbed as the No. 5 two-way player in the nation for her efforts at the plate and in the circle. Additionally, Lexie Brady was selected as the No. 6 catcher in the country and Mackenzie Pickens was tabbed as the No. 14 player at second base.
It’s not the first publication to take notice of the Rebels, as Guachino and Brady were named to D1Softball’s Power Rankings in their mid-March update. The group have seen honors flood in since the preseason, as Binford was named a preseason All-American by Softball America, while Pickens and Guachino were named to their preseason freshman watch list.
Binford, Brady and Pickens have combined for 22 home runs and 90 RBI, with each soaring over .350 batting averages so far. Guachino continues to be a dominant strikeout pitcher, recording 144 on the season, while maintaining a 2.11 ERA.
The Rebels are back in action on Friday, traveling to Columbia, S.C., to open a three-game series against No. 6 South Carolina. The Rebels and Gamecocks will open the series at 5 p.m. CT.
