ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Morgan Burke, Maddi Cuchran, Allison Jacobs and Serena Nyambio of the University of Michigan volleyball team were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 17).
To receive the honor, student-athletes must have completed at least one year of classes, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and have played in 90 percent of the team’s matches or start in 66 percent of the games.
Burke is a sophomore earning her degree in movement science from the School of Kinesiology. She earned her first Academic All-Big Ten selection last week. Burke started all 31 matches this season, one of just three players to do so, and played in every set. She led the team in assists (1,168) and tallied 31 aces.
Cuchran is a senior pursuing a degree in applied exercise science from the School of Kinesiology. She is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and earned CSC All-District honors last season. She played in all 31 matches this season as the team’s starting libero, leading the program in digs with 454.
Jacobs is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Management degree from the Ross School of Business. She is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She played in 25 matches this season, recording 335 kills and 186 digs, and was second in points scored with 360.5.
Nyambio is a junior enrolled in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts pursuing a degree in Biology, Health and Society with a minor in business administration. She is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and was named to the CSC All-District Team last season. This season, she started 29 matches and led the team in hitting percentage at .331 and averaged one block per set which also led the team.
Jacobs advances to the Academic All-America ballot, voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Jan. 14.
