UFC fighter Magomed Ankalaev is in an incredible moment in the sport, to the point of climbing the rankings and earning the chance to fight Alex Pereira for the 205-pound championship. However, the Brazilian is not interested in fighting him and negotiations remain frozen.
The Russian’s future remains in doubt as to the rivals he may face, although he is confident that some challenging challenge may arise
His path to the UFC was not an easy one, as, like everyone else, he had to work his way up from the bottom to earn the opportunity
Ngannou wanted to hurt him
That’s right, both fighters had a training session, Ankalaev originally collaborated with Francis Ngannou to improve his wrestling skills
However, Francis had other plans. In a conversation with Aslanbek Badaev earlier this year, Ankalaev, known for his outstanding wrestling technique, revealed details about that sparring. According to Ankalaev, Ngannou took an aggressive approach from the start, showing a clear intention to get a knockout with his punches.
Francis wanted to get back at a friend
In an interview with MMA UncensoredPlus, Ankalaev explained the reason why Ngannou was looking to hurt him in a sparring session.
“Then we found out the reason why he was trying to knock me out. It turns out that he is a friend of Dalcha Lungiambula whom I had knocked out before in a fight,” Ankalaev said
The Russian admitted that he fixed the situation with Francis and they have a good relationship, so it all ended in that training session.
The Russian continues to insist on several occasions that he can beat Pereira and become champion. Even the UFC community is eager to see that fight
Unfortunately for him, a few months ago, Alex admitted that he has no interest and that no one wants to see him fight Ankalaev, not even Dana White, president of the UFC.
