Durant High School had a pep rally March 28 to celebrate students raising funds for the Safe Schools Student Assistance Program during Roar week which is a philanthropy event sponsored by student council.

A total of $1,691.60 was raised for the program that will provide shoes, clothes, hygiene items and other items for students from pre-k through high school.

The event included pie/slime in the face, egg roulette and other activities with students and high school staff.

Amber Bullard, Durant High School assistant principal, spoke during the event and she said the students did a great job during Roar Week.

“If you’ve ever come to the school’s office because you spilled milk on your pants and you need a new pair, that’s where all of that comes from is our student assistance program,” Bullard said. “It’s a big blessing.”
