Futures to Target at DraftKings Sportsbook
Blake Krass breaks down the best futures to target for the 2025 college football season at DraftKings Sportsbook.
The college football season kicks off this weekend. This is the perfect time to put in futures bets at DraftKings Sportsbook. Whether picking a national champion, conference winner, Heisman Trophy winner, win total bet or much more, this is the time to get in on the action. This is a look at my top futures for the 2025 college football season.
Penn State to win the National Championship (+700)
The past few years in college football have defined a new era. Between NIL, conference realignment and playoff expansion, the sport looks entirely different from what it did a decade ago. The coaches who dominated the sport, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and more, have all left college football as well. A vacuum opened for coaches who could never “win the big one” to get to the next level. Kirby Smart at Georgia, Jim Harbaugh at Michigan and last season, Ryan Day at Ohio State, have also broken through over the past few seasons and brought a national title to their team. It could finally be James Franklin’s time. Drew Allar is the most sure thing at quarterback among the top teams, they have an incredible running back duo and are reloaded on defense. Georgia to win the SEC (+330)
The SEC is fascinating heading into this season. All three favorites to win the SEC, Texas, Georgia and Alabama, have new quarterbacks this season. There is a lot of uncertainty, even with the hype around players like Arch Manning. However, Georgia has proven that they are the dominant force in this conference over the past several years. Georgia has made the conference championship game four years in a row and won it two of those years. Last season, Texas only lost two games, and both were to Georgia, including the SEC Championship Game. In that conference title game, Gunner Stockton played most of the game after Carson Beck got injured. He led the team to a win with a strong running game and good defense. Until Steve Sarkisian shows that he can crack Smart’s code, I will take the value on Georgia. Read my full SEC preview here for more thoughts on the Bulldogs and the rest of the conference.
Alabama and Notre Dame to make the playoff parlay (+104)
Kalen DeBoer arrived at Alabama late into the offseason cycle last season after Saban retired. DeBoer didn’t have much time to hit the portal and develop relationships with his players. He still won nine games despite improbably losing to Oklahoma and Vanderbilt. Some Alabama fans are panicking, but the roster is better than last season’s. DeBoer also got a full offseason cycle with his team, and he brought back his offensive coordinator from Washington, Ryan Grubb. This offense should be more of a typical DeBoer/Grubb offense, with Ty Simpson fitting that mold better than Jalen Milroe.
Notre Dame will have one of the best defenses in the nation once again. It also has a revamped offensive line and one of the best running backs in the country, Jeremiyah Love. The Fighting Irish have one of the best coaches in the country and a great path to the 12-team playoff. Read my ACC preview here for my full thoughts on Notre Dame and the ACC conference.
Washington o7.5 wins (+110)
It was a tough first season for Jedd Fisch in Washington. He was hired late in the offseason cycle after DeBoer left for Alabama. Fisch was forced to rebuild a roster, which lost a ton of talent both to the NFL and the transfer portal after DeBoer left. Fisch had to piece together a roster, didn’t get time to fully recruit in the transfer portal and he still won six games. He won those six games despite blowing tight games against Washington State and Rutgers. If those results had flipped, Washington would have won eight games last season. They now have a much better roster, including promising young quarterback Demond Williams. Fisch is a winner and should get this team to eight wins after a full offseason cycle of building his roster.
Tennessee u8.5 wins (-145)
It was a tough offseason for Tennessee. Its quarterback, Nico Iamaleava, who was expected to be the future of the program, transferred to UCLA under bad circumstances. In a strange transfer portal era “wife swap,” the Volunteers took Joey Aguilar to be their new quarterback, after he was originally committed to UCLA. Aguilar was a standout quarterback at Appalachian State and was ready to jump to the Power Four with UCLA. Tennessee lost some key pieces from last season on both sides of the ball, including James Pearce Jr. on defense and Dylan Sampson on offense. It’s a transitional year for the Volunteers with an unexpected quarterback. If they get to eight wins with this tough schedule, that’s a solid season.
