Gators Persevere Cambridge Pentathlon – Monroe Times

CAMBRIDGE — On Saturday November 15th, the Green County Family YMCA Gators swim team attended a Pentathlon hosted by the Cambridge Blue Fins. Pentathlon swimmers competed in all four individual strokes as well as an individual medley for a total of 5 races. The Gators were represented by 14 swimmers taking 4th place out of 7 teams with a team score of 184 points. Other teams included Cambridge Blue Fins, Storm Aquatics, YMCA Dodge County Sea Dragons, Elkhorn Penguins Swim Team, Edgerton Otters, and the Portage Youth Swim Team.

High Point winners are the top 3 swimmers in their age division and gender who earned the most points during the meet. Gators had 5 swimmers earn high point awards. Barrett Berg (13) earned 43 points with first place swims in the Boys 13-14 50 Fly (28.48Y), 100 Breast (1:18.59Y), 100 Free (54.37Y) and 100 IM (1:06.74Y) and a second place in the 100 Back (1:07.65Y). Everett Ramirez (9) earned 41 points with first place swims in the Boys 9-10, 50 Fly (39.22Y), 50 Back (41.58Y) and the 50 Free (33.95Y) and second place finishes in the Boys 9-10, 50 Breast (48.67Y) and the 100 IM (1:28.50Y). Sadie Wellman (8) earned 35 points with second place swims in all five events Girls 8&Under 25 Fly (21.62Y), 25 Back(21.81Y), 25 Breast (23.50Y), 25 Free (17.01Y) and 100 IM (1:48.62Y).  Lauren Kosmosky (12) earned 34 points with second place finishes in Girls 11-12, 50 Fly (34.43Y), 50 Back (37.28Y), 50 Free (31.65Y) and 100 IM (1:21.07Y) and a third place finish in the Girls 11-12, 50 Breast (42.24Y). Olivia Hustad (9) earned 11 points taking third place in the Girls 9-10, 50 Back (39.88Y), and  fourth place in the Girls 9-10, 50 Free (35.96Y).
