The second annual Go Girls*, Go Bears, Go Play Field Day – an event hosted by the Cameron Institute that allows students ages 6-13 to interact with Cal student-athletes and try out different sports and drills – is set for Feb. 16 at Edwards Stadium.”We are excited to build upon the success of last year’s event and celebrate National Girls and Women’s in Sports Day with our community, valued community partners and Cal Athletics teams,” Cameron Institute senior manager of community engagement & partnerships Tayler Perez said. “This collaboration is a true testament to how powerful sports are as a connector between student-athletes, youth and our overall community. We are looking forward to lifting up our female student-athletes and teams to celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of play.”The Cameron Institute was made possible thanks to a generous endowment gift by C. Bryan Cameron in 2019. Please go to our website to learn more about the Cameron Institute and the impactful work from our Community Engagement pillar.

Second Annual Event Open To Students Ages 6-13Approximately 15 sports stations will be set up across Edwards Stadium for children to participate in, including football, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s gymnastics and more. Representatives from youth sports organizations and professional franchises Bay FC, Oakland Roots/Soul and the Golden State Valkyries will be on hand, as well as Olympians and Cal track & field alumnae Camryn Rogers and Alysia Montaño. “Last year, it was so much fun seeing all the young faces get to try new sports with their friends and find interests in new activities,” Cal volleyball student-athlete Peyton DeJardin said. “I’m so excited to be part of the process again and help foster a love and enthusiasm for sports in young children. The event is such a great opportunity to increase accessibility and awareness for kids who may not have been exposed to or had the ability to participate in these sports before.”*The Cameron Institute welcomes students of all gender identities, backgrounds and abilities. We affirm and celebrate all who experience life through the lens of girl/woman in body, spirit and identity – past, present, future and fluid.CAM INST2/4/2025 2:40 PM | By: Cal Athletics
