KXLG – Watertown, SD Deklynn Gaulrapp and her teammates made history as the first team from Watertown to qualify for the Daisy Nationals BB Gun Championship. Held in Rogers, Arkansas, the week-long competition brought together young shooters from across the country to showcase their skills and knowledge in shooting sports.

Deklynn, who has been involved in shooting sports through 4-H for the past several years, qualified for the nationals by participating in local and state contests throughout South Dakota…

Each participant also took a written safety test to demonstrate their understanding of firearm safety.

Deklynn and her team traveled to Bentonville, Arkansas, by van, accompanied by their families, for a week-long journey.

Although Deklynn’s team did not win any awards, they were proud to be among the six South Dakota teams represented at the nationals. Each participant received a certificate commemorating their participation in the 57th annual Daisy Nationals

Deklynn’s team embraced the event’s spirit by dressing up as characters from “Top Gun” for the award ceremony, adding a fun and memorable touch to their experience.

Deklynn enjoyed many aspects of the competition, from visiting the Daisy Museum to competing alongside her teammates.
