Reno native Caedon Kottinger graduated from Reno High in 2020. He earned Northern Nevada Pitcher of the Year honors, as well as first team all-state and all-league honors as a junior in 2019. Kottinger pitched one season at the College of San Mateo before playing the next three seasons at UCLA under Savage’s brother, John. During Kottinger’s three seasons with the Bruins from 2022-24, he appeared in 32 appearances out of the bullpen, compiling an ERA of 9.19 with 21 strikeouts in 31.1 innings. He has one season of eligibility remaining with the Wolf Pack this spring under third-year head coach Jake McKinley.The event is scheduled for Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. at the Peppermill Tuscany Ballroom and features a dinner, silent auction and live auction. Proceeds from the event go to field maintenance, equipment, uniforms and further financial support for Reno High’s 2025 baseball season. Reno High is coached by longtime head coach Pete Savage, who’s been at the helm of the Huskies program since 1995 and is the winningest head coach in Silver State history with more than 800 victories. Buddy Gouldsmith has been an area supervisor with the MLB’s Kansas City Royals since 2019 after serving as an assistant coach at New Mexico (2015-18) and associate head coach at Nevada under Gary Powers (2010-13). Gouldsmith was UNLV baseball’s head coach from 2004-10, guiding the Rebels to two Mountain West Tournament titles and NCAA Regional berths (2004, 05) as well as a regular-season title. He was the Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2005. Prior to serving as UNLV’s head coach, Gouldsmith was an assistant at UNLV, Tulane, American River JC and Consumes River College. Buddy’s son, Gunner, was selected in the 19th round with the 556th overall pick by the Athletics in the 2024 MLB draft. Gouldsmith attended Reno High as a junior and senior before graduating in 2020. He began his college career at Washington State and then played three seasons at Sacramento State. As a senior in 2024, he hit .318 with four homers and 38 RBIs. As a junior, he hit .373 with three homers. Gouldsmith was named to the All-WAC second team while also being an All-WAC defensive team honoree.
