Targhee is a big, fun mountain, and I always try to visit it if I am in Jackson Hole.It gets better snow than the Pacific NW resorts but still receives the fog/low clouds. I assume there is some geographic lift with the storms coming across the plains of Idaho. And they get stuck on Targhee / the Teton's windward side. Anyways, they preserve the snow and boost totals.I try to get to Jackson every couple of years. My brother's good friend has a local business, is married to Jackson's Town Attorney, and has been there since a little after 2000. They are fun to visit. Today at 4:57 AM If Targhee wasn't too crowded today, I don't know when it would ever be. It's always been on my "best uncrowded list," but given the explosive growth at the next closest ski areas, I thought that era might be coming to close. Thankfully not! Our last day there was a Saturday in February 2022 and I noted we were parking in a lower lot with shuttle bus that I had not seen before. Looks like a great day! Targhee is a big, fun mountain, and I always try to visit it if I am in Jackson Hole.It gets better snow than the Pacific NW resorts but still receives the fog/low clouds.
