Gymnastics Set to Begin Season at Home This Weekend

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team will get its 2025 season underway this Sunday, January 12 at 3:30 p.m. against SUNY Brockport in Ben Light Gymnasium. Ithaca has nine regular season meets on its schedule, along with the NCGA East Regional Championship and the NCGA National Championship.Highlighting those returners are 2024 WCGA All-Americans Emily Kobusky and Grace Murray (2023 All-American on floor), along with two-time All-American Skye Cohen and 2022 All-American Jillian Freyman. Kobusky was the national leader in SAS on beam last season at 9.8500 and set IC’s school record with 9.875, while Murray ranked second on floor at 9.8375. Freyman also ranked seventh nationally on the floor at 9.8000.Following the opening meet against Brockport, the Bombers will hit the road for the next month. IC then travels to Ursinus College on January 19, followed by a trip to Utica University on January 26. The Bombers will then go to Springfield College for a tri-meet with Ursinus on February 2 and return to Ithaca for the Empire State Collegiate Championship on February 9 at Cornell.Other gymnasts to watch this season are Kaylie Goodwin (eighth on beam – 9.7500), Natalie Steed (11th on vault – 9.7000), Caitlin Pellegrino, Lauren Babineaux, Abby Chesshire, Corey Foster, Marlena Bailey, Hana Miller, Taylor Arias and Nicole Lonski, who is returning from an injury and is the school record holder on bars at 9.825. Anya Kraenzel and Hali Seligman are also back for their sophomore seasons. 

The Bombers’ next home meet will be against Cortland on February 12 for the annual Rumble and Tumble with the wrestling program and then IC hosts Brockport once again for the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational on February 16.Head coach Rick Suddaby, now in his 40th season at Ithaca College, heads into this year with a loaded roster consisting of seven seniors, three juniors, eight sophomores (two transfers) and four first-years. Of the returning 16 members of the team from a year ago, 14 were in meet rotations, and despite not qualifying as a team for the NCGA Championships in 2024, the Bombers sent seven individual qualifiers.The Bombers also welcome this year’s newcomers in Sienna Blake (transfer), Madelynn Farragher, Camryn Flaherty, Mya John, Lillian Schick and Jessica Schmitz (transfer).On February 22, Ithaca heads to Cortland for a dual and wraps up the regular season at home against Springfield on March 2. The NCGA East Region Championship will be hosted by Brockport on March 8 and the NCGA Team Championship and Event Finals will be held on March 22 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
