Bengaluru is set to welcome a high-performance centre equipped with advanced infrastructure aimed at enhancing athletes’ training. On Saturday, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) revealed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and Sports Authority of India (SAI) to create the ‘HAL-SAI High Performance Centre’ in the city.
As per HAL, the centre will feature resources in fields such as anthropometry, biomechanics, exercise biochemistry, nutrition, sports and exercise physiology, psychology, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, physiotherapy, among others.
In a statement, the public sector organization emphasized, “It has been backing sports alongside The Sports Authority of India to deliver premier facilities and create a platform for the nation’s talented sports individuals.”
To date, HAL has initiated training for tribal youth in archery, football, and athletics at the HAL-SAI Sports Training Centre located in Koraput, Odisha, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. It has also established a football academy in Bengaluru equipped with FIFA-standard facilities to identify and nurture young talent in the sport.
The upcoming centre will be located at SAI, Nethaji Subhas Southern Centre in the city. “This centre will utilize advances in science and technology to boost athletes’ performance,” HAL stated in a release.
