Saturday’s CIF state championships scoreboard

OPEN DIVISION

Mater Dei vs. De La Salle at Saddleback College, 8 p.m.

DIVISION 1-A

Edison 21, Fresno Central 14 (Final)

Update: Touchdown: Edison’s Sam Thomson and Jake Minter connect for a 54-yard TD pass with 20 seconds left to take the lead. Chargers win their first CIF state title.

Update: Central goes for it on 4th-and-goal from the 6-yard line and the receiver dropped a perfect pass. Wondering why Central didn’t kick a go-ahead field goal? Central is 0-3 on field goal attempts this season. Edison 14, Central 14 with just over 4 minutes left

DIVISION 2-A 

Palos Verdes 55, Twelve Bridges 19 (F) 

Update: The Sea Kings are CIF Division 2-A state champions. Soph QB Ryan Rakowski threw 6 TD passes to tie the state record for a championship game. He was 20 of 25 for 353 yards and no interceptions. This is Palos Verdes’ first state title in football.

Rio Hondo Prep vs. Vanden at Long Beach City College’s Veterans Stadium, 7 p.m.

DIVISION 4-A

Sonora 52, St. Pius X-St. Matthias 34 (Final)

Update: Sonora wins its first state championship. Sonora ran for five touchdowns, 360+ yards. Cinderella run ends for Warriors (6-10) after 1-9 regular season, first CIF-SS and SoCal Regional championships.

DIVISION 6-A

Portola vs. Arcata at Fullerton High School, 7 p.m.

DIVISION 7-A

Balboa 55, Pioneer 27 (F) 

Update: TOUCHDOWN: A 69-yard TD reception from Jose Rojas gives the Titans something to remember with 6 seconds left in the contest.
