So, we’re seeing a lot of excitement for that,” Gummo added.For Nittany Lions head coach Guy Gadowsky, the moment is bigger than just the team and is more about the entire Penn State community.From jersey’s, to hats, and sweaters, stores have loaded up on all hockey related gear.For the first time in program history, the Nittany Lions are going to the NCAA Frozen Four, which is being played in St. Louis this year, but back at home, Penn State fans are rushing to get their hands on anything blue and white ahead of the big game.Whether it’s from home or down in St. Louis, Penn State fans are getting ready to cheer on their team in style come April 10th.“We’re seeing a really increased level of excitement for Penn State ice hockey. It’s a huge accomplishment. It’s the first time that Penn State has made it to the Frozen Four, so we are definitely seeing people come through, picking up their hockey jerseys, and getting ready for the next big game,” says Caroline Gummo, CFO of the Family Clothesline.Local stores and fans alike are revving up in anticipation after Penn State Men’s ice hockey team earned a spot in the Frozen Four.Since Sunday night’s overtime win against UConn, stores like the Family Clothesline and student bookstore have seen an influx of customers eager to show support for men’s ice hockey.”The entire program, our alumni, everybody, is just really thrilled to be able to go to St. Louis. I think the first time that your program does this is going to be special, no matter what. But this year it might be a little more special because of how it happened,” Gadowsky told reporters on Tuesday.After making history, hockey fever has taken over State College.Stores are expected to have Frozen Four merch filing in the next coming days, leaving owners expecting another surge in sales.
