New Delhi: For reason unknown, the men and women national campers of Indian hockey weren’t entitled to an out-of-pocket allowance (OPA) by the govt under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) over the years. Since the inception of TOPS in Sep 2014, athletes from other disciplines benefitted from the sports ministry’s benevolence of monthly stipend to the identified pool of sportspersons but not the hockey players.

However, this anomaly was rectified in a recent meeting of the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) here on Thursday. The 156th governing council meeting of the MOC has approved an OPA of Rs 25,000 per month for the national campers of both the men’s and women’s hockey teams after considering the request of the sport’s national federation – Hockey India (HI).

A total of 80 players (40 men and 40 women) will benefit from the allowance which is given to athletes in the developmental group of TOPS. Athletes in the core group of TOPS receive a monthly stipend of Rs 50,000. The allowance to hockey players would cost the govt Rs 20 lakh per month, a ministry official said.

“The allowance was requested by Hockey India for some time and we have decided to accept the demand. The players have performed reasonably well and it (this allowance) is being given on merit. The federation will have to submit a list of players to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) every month for disbursement of the funds,” sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya said here on Friday.

The men’s team was considered for OPA after winning two back-to-back bronze medals — in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and the subsequent Paris Games last year. The team also secured a gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023. The women’s team finished a creditable fourth in Tokyo. Both the teams are currently playing in the FIH Pro League’s European leg.

A ministry official informed that the proposals worth Rs 4.28 cr from athletes were approved by the MOC, including Rs 1.38 cr financial assistance to tennis players Saketh Myneni, Jeevan Nedu.

Social media detectives quickly identified the woman who popped up in a set of raunchy photos with Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase over the weekend.

Identifying unknown persons online has become much easier now, with tools such as Grok available. It’s what one user employed after the photos of Chase and the woman went viral online.

The AI bot identified the woman as Deja Nicole Hiott Johnson, a model and influencer better known as just Deja Nicole.

Turns out Nicole shared the images herself on TikTok several weeks ago, but they managed to fly without viral detection until they ended up on X.

Nicole does have a massive social media presence while she’s also said to be developing a skincre brand, details of which are unknown at the moment.

Her romantic history, however, is what most fans are discussing. Deja has a son with former NFL wide receiver Martavis Bryant, while she was briefly married to former NBA player Gerald Green, with whom she also shares a son.

She’s trending at the moment, on the strength of her raunchy mirror selfies with Chase. As you can see above, one of them shows his hand on her privates, while he holds her from behind in the other.

Given her past relationships, some fans have branded her “First Lady of Ballers,” a title which does not seem to bother her.

Chase, meanwhile, has secured a significant deal with Cincinnati, agreeing a four-year contract worth $161 million. The deal made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, but he’s now slightly behind T.J. Watt, who just got a three-year, $123 million deal from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Annoying People Are Freaking Out Over WNBA Players Wearing "Pay Us What You Owe Us" Shirts

WNBA’s Viral Pay Shirts Explained

WNBA players are going viral for their bold “Pay Us What You Owe Us” shirts at a warmup during Saturday’s All-Star game.

“We get a very tiny percentage of all the money that’s made through the WNBA, which obviously is made through the entertainment we provide,” Minnesota Lynx player Napheesa Collier explained. “So we want a fair and reasonable percentage of that.”

This comes right after the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (the players’ union) and the WNBA met for a Collective Bargaining Agreement last Thursday, which did not result in a deal. “We were disappointed for sure,” Napheesa said on Friday. “What they came back with was just nowhere near what we asked for or even in the same conversation.”

So, how much are WNBA players paid? As per Sports Illustrated, “WNBA salaries roughly range from a minimum of $66,000 to a super maximum contract of around $250,000.” The average NBA salary for the ’24–’25 season is reportedly $11.9 million, with the minimum sitting at $1.2 million.

But equal base salaries aren’t even the current goal here. A big issue is that WNBA players reportedly only receive about 9.3% of league revenue. Their male counterparts in the NBA, as well as the NFL and NHL, get around 50%. Though the WNBA hasn’t been profitable in the past, new business — including an extremely lucrative TV deal — means that the WNBA is set to bring in hundreds of millions this year and, by some reports, become profitable*.

Subsequently, many WNBA players are aiming to increase that percentage of league revenue. “If this is the asking price and this is the TV deal, then make it make sense on the other side as well,” Breanna Stewart, New York Liberty forward and players’ union vice president, put it last Friday.

However, because this is women, money, and sports, the shirts sparked backlash — resulting in counter-criticism.

As Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark said, “We should be paid more and hopefully that’s the case moving forward as the league continues to grow. I think that’s something that’s probably the most important thing that we’re in the room advocating about.”

GTA Online Paramedics Are Absolutely Unhinged and Players Love It

GTA Online Paramedics Are Absolutely Unhinged and Players Love It

Just when all your want to bet is that nothing crazier than this exists in GTA Online, a clip has gone viral depicting paramedics acting more like deranged vigilantes than respectable ones. Honestly, the gamers love it.

The videos posted by Rashon-Too-Dope show a paramedic ramming an ambulance into a player so hard one could say the patient never quite made it to the hospital. The nerve of this digital first responder launched a topsy-turvy wave of hilarity within the community.

Trial Xtreme summed up the situation: “That paramedic was taking you to the hospital whether you needed it or not!” Timesaver.gg added with a grim glare, “That patient is not going to make it,” while Soulbound TV grabbed the atmosphere pretty well: “They’re not saving lives, they’re settling scores.”

So why could the players be so into this kind of absurdity? For the very reason that GTA Online goes for crazy unpredictability. Whether it is NPCs driving like they don’t care or players turning L.S. into a war zone, the charm lies in the part being far from reluctant to accept any kind of realism. NightGuardian34 said, “It’s GTA, what do y’all expect?”

Some gamers, such as nftflair.eth, went on to argue that the paramedics’ reckless behavior was not far from being real by stating, “NPCs in GTA mirror real LA driving habits – ambulances were terrifying.” And really, that’s a fair point.

Next came the conspiracy from CtrlAltDwayne, who said, “The paramedic was another player obviously.” Considering how often players disguise themselves as NPCs to carry out ridiculous stunts, that isn’t really far-fetched.

But really, who are we kidding? GTA has forever been a sandbox filled with madness. From flying motorcycles to orbital cannons, Rockstar has embraced the chaos. And what did the community do? They ate it up every time.

What comes after? Firefighters setting buildings ablaze? Cops robbing banks? Nothing would shock us by now, and that’s why the crowds stay on. Since in GTA Online, the only rule is that there aren’t any rules.

As this clip faster accumulates views globally, one thing is for sure: there is no way this would be the last time that NPCs in GTA get the limelight. Either they were staged intentionally or they are just a kind of madness rampant in the matrix of Los Santos-that becomes the hallmark of countless amusing moments, keeping the game fresh and unpredictable.

So after this one, whenever you hear sirens in GTA Online, think twice about calling for help. That ambulance might just turn out to be your worst enemy. Or just embrace the chaos and see where it takes you. Either way, it’s going to be a wild ride.

If you haven’t seen it yet, then definitely go track down that clip. Words will never describe the sheer madness of it, seeing a paramedic going, well, full GTA on a patient. Another day in Los Santos, folks.

Video of a race between a female track star and a male runner goes viral and the results ...

A female track and field star shared telling footage of a race against a man after he claimed he could beat her.

Division one athlete Alahna Sabbakhan took to social media to document a race against her boyfriend’s male friend.

He refused to believe the University of Virginia runner could beat him in a race.

So, they put it to the test over 400m and the result was extremely one-sided.

The footage shows Sabbakhan and the male runner, who ‘does not run’ regularly, running side-by-side for the first 200 meters before the D1 runner left him in the dust.

The distance between the two runners grew as Sabbakhan finished ‘hard’, easily beating the man.

Sabbakhan, who is an 800m runner, clocked a time of 57 seconds, which was ‘pretty good for practice’.

Her personal best times are 53 seconds from a 400m leg of a relay and 54 seconds in an open race.

The TikTok video has over 15 million views and has been ‘liked’ by over two million users.

Her video caption read: “Just to clarify, I did NOT want to race this man I was already at the track with my bf doing a work out and he came to join.”

Sabbakhan said she thought it was ‘ridiculous’ when she first started hearing rumblings that her boyfriend’s friend believed he could run faster than her.

“He didn’t really know what to challenge me in,” she told Today.

“He was like: ‘Yeah, I could beat her in the 400’ – not realising that that was one of the hardest track events and that was one of my secondary events.”

Sabbakhan added: “He wasn’t like: ‘Oh, that wasn’t fair’. He was like: ‘Yeah, that was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life’.

“I feel like it was just a really good learning experience. It showed people that they need to stop underestimating us – as in track athletes, female athletes.”

WNBA players make strong statement during All

WNBA players did not hold back ahead of the All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday night.

During pre-game warmups, players took off their warm-up jackets on the court to unveil t-shirts with a secret message to the league amid ongoing collective bargaining drama.

Players and the league met for CBA negotiations this week, but there was no progress made.

The t-shirts during warm-ups had a clear message.

The shirts had social media buzzing.

The message, “Pay us what you us,” was heard loud and clear. Even reigning Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark joined in on the protest.

With interest and league popularity at an all-time high, players are hoping to see pay raises and more benefits when the new CBA is agreed on.

But, for now, they’re suiting up and ready to put on a show for the Indianapolis crowd.

The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
