He just missed out on the consolation finals in the 200 free by taking 15th during prelims.In the Division 3 state meet at Eastern Michigan University, Marshall’s Carter Pratt made it past prelims in the 100 backstroke and earned all-state honors by taking seventh in the championship final with a time of 54.26. Pratt advanced to the consolation finals in the 200 IM and finished 16th overall with a time of 2:22.11The Marshall 200 free relay team was 20th during prelims.
The Lakeview 400 relay team advanced to the consolation finals and took 13th overall in 3:17.75 with the team of Christian Hancock, Josh Neal, Darland and Baumann.
Marshall’s Connor Fish competed in the 50 free para event and had a time of 53.42.
City and area swimmers competed with the best in the state over the weekend, looking to prove they belonged.The Lakeview 200 free relay team and 200 IM relay teams were both disqualified during prelims.Marshall divers Ronnie Gill and Caylor Elsesser finished 24th and 33rd, respectively, in prelims.
Senior Jack Darland advanced to the consolation bracket on Saturday and finished 14th overall in the 100 backstroke in a time of 55.01.
Division 3
Lakeview sophomore Major Baumann earned all-state honors by taking sixth in the 100-yard freestyle in the championship final on Saturday with a time of 47.30. Baumann had qualified for the finals by taking sixth as well in the prelims.
Spartan junior diver Peyton Elder was also all-state by taking seventh overall with a score of 422.9. He was also seventh in the semifinals to advance.Baumann just missed out on the 200 free consolation finals by taking 17th during prelims. Hancock was 22nd in the 500 free and 24th in the 200 free in action during prelims on Friday. Freshman Easton Kline was 34th in prelims in the 100 backstroke. Both Lakeview and Marshall sent competitors to the 2025 Michigan High School Athletic Association State Boys Swimming and Diving Finals on Friday and Saturday.Lakeview had two swimmers and a diver, plus a relay team make it past Friday’s prelims at the Division 2 Finals at Oakland University.
