One major storyline of the 2024 NASCAR season was Hailie Deegan losing out on her Xfinity Series ride, and ultimately, moving to IndyCar’s developmental Indy NXT series for 2025.
- Hailie Deegan was once considered a top prospect in NASCAR. At 17, Deegan was a three-time winner in the ARCA Menards Series West and ready for a spot in the NASCAR National Series with Ford. She would make her NASCAR Truck Series debut in 2020.
- Her time in the Truck Series, three full-time seasons with top Ford teams, was rough, with Deegan finishing no higher than sixth from 2021 to 2023. Nonetheless, she moved to the Xfinity Series with AM Racing in 2024. Unfortunately, this stent would only last 17 races, with the team moving on from Deegan after she averaged a 26.8 finish.
- After her time at AM Racing ended, fans wondered where Deegan would go in 2025. In a rather odd turn of events, the rumor mill suggested that Deegan could find herself in IndyCar in 2025. On Oct. 14, Deegan confirmed this move to open wheel, signing with HMD Motorsports to drive their No. 38 entry in the 2025 Indy NXT season.
- This article will update race by race with Deegan’s stats and standings from her first season in IndyCar.
