Husker Volleyball Fan Day at Devaney Center
Nebraska fans gathered at the Devaney Center on a stormy Saturday for the annual Husker Volleyball Fan Day, lining the concourse for two hours to meet their favorite players and celebrate the team.Fans young and old brought jerseys, volleyball and posters to be signed by the entire Husker program. “It means like that we’re a part of it basically,” Kiya and Kennedi said, highlighting the family atmosphere in a sea of red. ‘Saw some players step up at big moments’: Red-White Scrimmage kicks off new era for Nebraska volleyballMany fans expressed their admiration for players like Harper Murray and Laney Choboy.Murray emerged as a fan favorite, but for one special fan, Emma Schuelke, meeting Bergen Reilly was a particularly emotional experience. “I’m a setter and I like to watch her and the way she does everything,” Schuelke said.Schuelke, like Reilly, is from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her family made the trip to Lincoln, with Emma unaware she would meet her favorite players and role model. “This is the ultimate dream to get to come here, so we feel very honored and happy to get to have this as part of our day,” Maggie Schuelke said.After meeting the players, fans had the opportunity to make signs to bring to matches throughout the season.
