LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – The Nebraska volleyball team launched its 2025 campaign with the annual Red-White Scrimmage Saturday inside the newly-named John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Nebraska Athletics announced that 8,414 fans attended.

The match was designated to go four sets regardless of which teams won. The Red squad swept 3-0 before the White team claimed the fourth set, making it a 3-1 Red victory.

It should be noted that the Huskers’ lineups were mixed throughout the match.

Middle blocker Rebekah Allick paced all players with 16 kills on .433 hitting and added five blocks. Fellow middles were equally effective — freshman Kenna Cogill notched 10 kills on .421 hitting with five blocks in her Devaney Center debut, and junior Andi Jackson added nine kills on .412 hitting. Freshman Manaia Ogbechie led all players with eight blocks.

Junior outside hitter Harper Murray finished with 15 kills and nine digs, while sophomore opposite Virginia Adriano posted 11 kills and a match-high three aces. Freshman outside hitter Teraya Sigler logged a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs) with two aces and redshirt freshman outside hitter Skyler Pierce added nine kills.

Junior setter Bergen Reilly (41 assists, 15 digs) and freshman Campbell Flynn (34 assists, 11 digs) directed the attack for both offenses, while junior libero Laney Choboy (17 digs) and sophomore Olivia Mauch (16) anchored the back row.

Senior outside hitter Taylor Landfair contributed seven kills, five blocks and five digs; senior opposite Allie Sczech chipped in six kills, five digs and three blocks; freshman opposite Ryan Hunter added five kills and four blocks.

First-year head coach Dani Busboom Kelly said on the Nebraska Public Media broadcast that she “wasn’t expecting today to clear everything up and make it an easy decision” regarding starting lineups.

“I think this team is just going to be really balanced all year and we’ll be able to rely on so many people,” she said.

Nebraska continues its preseason next Saturday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m. with its inaugural Alumni Match. The roster of returners features Husker greats Jordan Larson, Kelly Hunter, Lauren Stivrins, Kenzie Maloney, Annika Albrecht, Gina Mancuso, Callie Schwarzenbach, Lindsay Krause, Leyla Blackwell and Ally Batenhorst.
