BOSTON – The Northeastern women’s basketball team heads to the Carolinas for two road games over the weekend, starting with a Friday night contest at Campbell on February 7 at 7 p.m. The Huskies then travel to Chucktown for a Sunday afternoon game against Charleston on February 9 at 2 p.m. Both games will be available to watch on FloCollege.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. LAST TIME OUT – Northeastern played some of their toughest basketball this weekend, starting with Drexel Friday afternoon. The Huskies and Dragons played physical on both ends of the court, trading buckets and stops until the final whistle. Sophomore Abby Jegede led all scorers with 19 points, while sophomore Yirsy Quéliz tallied 11 points, and freshman Alyssa Staten collected 13 rebounds, one shy of matching her career high.On Sunday, Northeastern hosted Delaware for its Alumni and NGWSD day. Jegede and Quéliz found their stride as the game progressed, combining for 35 points and 10 assists. Quéliz’s nine dimes were a season-high for the Dominican Republic native, while senior Camille Clement laced two threes and Staten recorded her seventh game of 10+ rebounds.

2. TWO IS TOO GOOD – In her second full season and first playing in the CAA, Abby Jegede has arrived. The Toronto, Canada native averages 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 16 games played, all increases from her first season of play. Her efficiencies have also jumped, shooting 42.2% from the field and 79% from the free throw line. Conference play is where Jegede has shown her ability to score. She has logged at least 15 points in eight of nine games and scored 20+ points on three occasions, including a career-high 25 points, nine made field goals, and six three-pointers against Stony Brook on January 3. She ranks fourth in the conference in PPG (18.7) and eighth in FG percentage (38.5%) in that period.

3. SCOUTING THE COMPETITION – Friday’s contest at Campbell will be the second all-time meeting between both teams. The Huskies and Fighting Camels first met last season on Solomon Court, where the visitors took a 54-43 win. Graduate student Bailey Williams carries valuable experience, playing three games against them while at Longwood, where she averaged 4.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. Campbell is coming off a 92-71 road win against William & Mary. Northeastern holds a 12-6 series lead over Charleston, going 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. The Huskies have performed well in TD Arena, winning five of the previous seven matchups, most recently leaving Charleston with a 74-60 win in 2023. The Cougars are riding a three-game winning streak, beating Hofstra 73-42 at home this past Sunday.
