OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University Director of Athletics Janet Eaton-Smith has announced that Ashan Jordan has been named head coach of the OU women’s program.

“I’m thrilled to share exciting news that Coach Jordan has officially agreed to take on the role of our next women’s volleyball coach,” said Eaton-Smith. “His deep volleyball knowledge, combined with his dedication to learning and growing as a coach, bodes well for the future of our teams. Please join me in congratulating Coach Jordan on this new chapter—we’re lucky to have him leading the way!”

Now in his second season at the helm of the men’s program, Jordan has led the team to its second-highest win total in school history, with an impressive 12-match improvement over the 2024 season. Under his guidance, 10 student-athletes have earned All-Conference honors, and the Braves have secured berths in two conference tournaments, including an upset of no. 3 Missouri Valley College in the conference quarterfinals.

“I am extremely grateful to be taking on the responsibility of teaching and training an amazing group of young ladies,” said Jordan. “Ottawa’s women’s program has been very well established in the KCAC and I’m super excited to continue the legacy and take the team further.”

Before being named head coach of the men’s team, Jordan served as a graduate assistant for both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at Ottawa University. In this role, he contributed to daily practice planning and execution, while also helping coordinate the teams’ community outreach initiatives.

As a student-athlete, Jordan was a standout on the court for the Braves. A four-year letterwinner, he earned First Team All-GPAC honors in both 2021 and 2022 and was named to the Second Team All-Midwest Conference in 2019. He was recognized as GPAC Attacker of the Week eight times and earned NAIA Attacker of the Week honors in 2019. Jordan served as team captain in his final two seasons and concluded his career with 819 kills, 30 service aces, 420 digs, and 127 blocks.

Jordan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Communication, as well as a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Population Health and Healthcare Management. During his time at OU, he was also an active member of the Student-Athlete Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.). Ashan also helps lead campus wellness activities.
