New Delhi, Jun 20 (PTI) Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) president Devendra Jhajharia on Friday said India will host the “best-ever” World Para Athletics Championships to held here later this year, adding that they are leaving no stone unturned to make the event a grand success.
India will host its first-ever World Para Athletics Championships from September 26 to October 5 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here, which will feature more than 2,500 athletes from over 100 countries competing for 186 medals.
“It is going to be the biggest event in the history of para in India. Over 2,500 athletes and officials will be coming for this event. It is a big opportunity for India,” Jhajharia said during a ceremony to unveil the tournament’s logo and mascot.
“We will conduct the best-ever event in the history of Indian sports. The world will get the message that India have hosted the best event in the history of sports,” said Jhajharia, who is the first Indian to win two gold medals at the Paralympics.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is currently under renovation with a new track being laid for the competition. Jhajharia assured that everything would be ready before the championships.
“The track and the entire Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will be ready a month before the tournament. We are taking care of everything in detail, including best boarding facilities for all athletes and delegations of the world. The work is going in the manner which we wanted. All athletes and delegates will be staying in the best hotels of the city,” he said.
Jhajharia said the championships will inspire a generation of Indian para athletes.
“(A) host country automatically gets the benefit. The new players will get opportunity to watch the big stars of the world in para athletics. It will also give a big message that India is ready to host the 2036 Olympics and Paralympics.”
The ceremony on Friday, which also marked the beginning of a 100-day countdown to the tournament, was attended by the Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as chief guest, Delhi’s Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood, BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is event’s brand ambassador, as well as the head of the World Para Athletics, Paul Fitzgerald among others.
Fitzgerald said, “In a few months time world’s best para athletes will come here. It is an incredible opportunity to show India to the world. More para athletes will be here than Paris Paralympics. In three months we will create history,” he said.
Ranaut said, “I am here not just to endorse but to amplify and to support all our para athletes.” PTI SSC SSC DDV

Who is Nikola Jokic's scary brother Strahinja that went viral at NBA Summer League?

If you happened to be watching the Denver Nuggets’ NBA Summer League game, you saw a bad, bad dude.
That bad, bad dude is Nikola Jokic’s oldest brother Strahinja, a former professional basketball player in his own right and now a certifiable bad-a** that has been known to throw down, which is even scarier given he also has a background in mixed martial arts.

So if you think he looked scary sitting just behind the Nuggets bench without his younger brother, that’s only the beginning. Maybe he was sending a message that his brother needs more help next season to win his second NBA championship in a loaded Western Conference.
No, like we mean, literally almost killed him. To motivate his three-time NBA MVP younger brother, Strahinja, 43, would throw knives around Joker’s head.
“He once held down my arms and threw knives all around my head,” Nikola told Sports Illustrated. “That was a little crazy.”
We’d say that’s completely crazy. It’s obvious that Strahinja is extremely loyal to his famous brother now, which in turn also gets him into trouble at NBA games.
According to reports, it got so bad that Strahinja, along with Nikola’s other older brother, Nemanja, got their own suite at home games to avoid altercations in the crowd.
The ugliest incident was probably in Game 2 of last year’s NBA playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers, when apparently that suite wasn’t available, where you can seen Strahinja and Nemanja literally jumping over seats to fight whoever is on the unfortunate end of that one-way outcome. He was eventually arrested and charged for misdemeanor assault.

If only there was video of them getting into a verbal altercation with legendary Lakers fan Jack Nicholson, another alleged incident.
There was an ugly incident in 2019, where Strahinja pled guilty in 2020 to a felony and misdemeanor for choking and pushing a woman, reported by the Denver Post.
He was also sued earlier this year for the viral brawl noted above, so Strahinja definitely lives up to the tough guy reputation.
Sometimes, unfortunately, a little too much.

Key Takeaways
- GloRilla will perform at the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game halftime show in Indianapolis on Saturday (July 19).
- BIA is set to perform her single “WE ON GO” before the game tips off.
- The event will be broadcast live on ABC, Disney+ and ESPN+.
GloRilla is gearing up to deliver “BIG GLO energy” at Saturday’s (July 19) WNBA All-Star Game. On Wednesday (July 16), the rapper was officially announced as the halftime show headliner, with the event scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET from Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
“You know I’m always going to represent for the ladies, and I’m excited to bring that BIG GLO energy to the WNBA All-Star stage,” GloRilla said in a press statement. “This one is for the women and athletes who go hard every single day.”
For those tuning in, ABC, Disney+ and ESPN+ will be broadcasting the game live. In the meantime, see the flyer below.
GloRilla won’t be the only one repping for the ladies on Saturday night. Before the game tips off, BIA will hit the stage to perform her single “WE ON GO,” which she released back in May. Fittingly, the track includes a basketball-inspired bar: “NBA block ’em out of the phone / I’m breaking hearts and I put ’em in Chrome.”
“I’m excited to be a part of the WNBA All-Star Game this year,” BIA shared. “It’s all about powerful women doing what they do best, and I’m honored to be part of that energy.”
Performing for the game adds to an already major year for both artists. In June, GloRilla treated fans to a medley from GLORIOUS at the 2025 BET Awards, during which she also brought out Keyshia Cole for a mash-up of “Love” and her own “Typa.” After her All-Star halftime set, she’ll return to her hometown of Memphis to headline the first annual Glo Bash at FedExForum on July 25.
Meanwhile, BIA is gearing up to drop her next LP, rumored to be titled Full Circle. So far, she’s been building momentum with singles like “PISSED OFF” featuring Lil Yachty and “LIGHTS OUT” with JID.

It’s one of the toughest races around and eight athletes in particular are basking in the glory of crossing the finish line.
The Great 8 are all adaptive athletes, and their completion of the Spartan Race at Blue Mountain was a dream come true.
The grueling race was this past weekend. The CEO of the IM ABLE Foundation in Berks County says this wasn’t just about finishing a race for these athletes. It was about proving what’s possible when we come together and believe in one another.
These eight athletes had to overcome extra challenges just to even get to the race — from using a wheelchair while living with spina bifida, to surviving pediatric cancer, to having a traumatic brain injury.
Competing in the Spartan Race was a part of IM ABLE’s “operation lead from the front” program, designed to empower veterans with disabilities.
They weren’t out there alone. More than 11,000 people took part in the race that included more than 25 brutal obstacles.
There were two photographers following the Great 8 around as they completed the challenges.
Forty-eight volunteers helped make all of it possible for the athletes, helping to lift, support and celebrate the Great 8 along the way.

Bradley Beal's Cheeky Farewell Message to Suns Goes Viral, Drawing Reactions From Trae …

Bradley Beal posted on Instagram after his departure from the Phoenix Suns was finalized, generating many reactions from stars across the league. The simple two-word caption that followed sent shockwaves through NBA social media and revealed just how much his Phoenix chapter meant to him.

Why Did Bradley Beal Choose Such a Blunt Farewell Message?
After the Suns failed to qualify for the playoffs in the 2024-25 season, the franchise broke up its “superteam” and moved on from Kevin Durant and Beal. While Durant ended up being traded to the Houston Rockets, the Suns initiated a buyout and allowed Beal to sign a new deal with the Los Angeles Clippers after he briefly entered free agency.
Although Beal spent two seasons with the Suns, he could not help them accomplish anything significant. They were eliminated from the first round of the playoffs during his first season with the team and failed to qualify for the playoffs in his second season.
It is common for players to post heartfelt messages on Instagram whenever they change teams. This is viewed as an opportunity for them to share their feelings and also thank the fanbase of their former team for the love and support they experienced. However, Beal took a completely different approach.
The blunt farewell immediately caught the attention of his fellow NBA players, who seemed to appreciate his straightforward approach.
How Did NBA Stars React to Beal’s Instagram Post?
The relationship between Beal and the Suns’ fan base is not the best after two disappointing seasons. However, no one could have predicted that his farewell post’s caption would be a simple “peace out” sign and nothing more. Upon noticing his simple and cheeky caption, several stars, such as Trae Young, commented on his post.
Even if Beal was not respected and loved by the Suns’ fanbase, stars across the league certainly seem to be on his side. After all, Beal was a top scorer in the league just a few seasons ago and is one of the most experienced guards in the NBA. The support from his peers shows that respect remains strong throughout the league despite the Phoenix disappointments.
Some Suns fans may believe that Beal was the problem and that his inconsistency played a huge role in the team’s recent failures. However, with his move to Los Angeles, Beal now has a chance to prove them all wrong.
The Los Angeles Clippers might be a good fit for Beal and may offer him another chance at legitimately contending for an NBA title. Being paired up with James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, and several other talented stars can be considered a recipe for success, provided that they stay healthy.
In any case, Beal’s post and the reactions from his fellow players have gained the basketball community a fair amount of attention. The upcoming 2025-26 season will reveal more about his capabilities at this stage of his career and whether the Clippers can provide the championship opportunity that eluded him in Phoenix.
