JAMMU, Dec 6: The Inter-Collegiate Badminton (Men & Women) and Kickboxing Championship 2024-25, hosted by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, wrapped up with immense zeal at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu today.
In the Badminton (Women) final, the PG Department, University of Jammu claimed victory, besting GCW Parade with a score of 2-0 to seize the title. On the other hand, in the Men’s Badminton final, GDC Kathua defeated P.G. Department, University of Jammu with an impressive 3-0 win. GDC Kunjwani earned third place in the men’s category, while MIER Jammu achieved third in the women’s division.
The event was overseen by Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, from the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, who attended the event as the chief guest. Notable attendees included Gagan Kumar, P.D. Singh, Jai Bharat, Inderjeet Singh, Richa Mandla, and Vandna Sharma. Matches were officiated by a skilled team consisting of Ravish Vaid, Vinay Manhas, Jeevan Lal, Arjun Sharma, and Ritik Jandial.
In the Inter-Collegiate Kickboxing Championship 2024-25, gold medals were presented across various weight categories for both genders. Manjeet from GDC Vijaypur took gold in the Under-57kg Low Kick category, while Abhimanu Sharma from GDC Vijaypur secured gold in the Under-63kg Low Kick category. Sanju Kattal from GDC R. Pura snagged gold in the Under-71kg category, and Naryaan Partap Singh from GDC Baribramna captured gold in the Under-81kg Low Kick category. In the Full Contact division, Arjun Khajuria earned gold in his category, while Navidazgar from GDC Poonch attained silver.
In the Point Fight category, gold medals were secured by GDC Kunjwani in the men’s division, and Simran Sangral from GCET Jammu in the women’s division. Other prominent winners included Adamya from PG Deptt JU in the Under-60kg women’s category and Gourav Sharma from P.G. Deptt JU in the Under-74kg men’s category.
The Overall Championship trophy in the men’s kickboxing section was won by GDC Vijaypur, amassing 23 points, while the P.G. Department, University of Jammu achieved the women’s Overall Championship with 18 points.
