ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Young campers from the Great Lakes Gaming Camp celebrated the end of their summer camp by showcasing games they designed and built on Friday.
The nine-week camp taught kids how to build games through coding and tournaments, attracting about 140 participants.
“It’s a really cool way cuz instead sitting somewhere and doing nothing, I got to play games,” a camper said.
The camp partnered with the Rochester Area Community Foundation, which provided more than 90 spots for kids from the city school district to participate. Organizers hope to expand to after-school programs throughout the school year.
“In my game creation, I made a platform… and a finish line,” another camper said.
