Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, Golden State Warriors guard Buddy Hield and their respective teams received warnings from the NBA on Thursday after the players engaged in a verbal altercation that included hand gestures resembling guns during a game Tuesday.
The league told both teams the gestures were inappropriate and instructed them to stop using them, a league source said. The argument from the teams’ side, the source said, was that the gestures were not intended to be violent.

The NBA launched an investigation into the incident after Morant made gun gestures throughout Tuesday’s game in apparent celebration of hitting five 3-pointers. He pointed either toward the nearest defender or his father, Tee Morant, on the sideline.
Later in the game, Hield appeared to return Morant’s gesture in a taunting fashion as the teams split for a timeout. Morant saw Hield and made the gesture back toward the Warriors’ bench as the sides got in a verbal tiff. Morant eventually broke for his huddle, calling Hield a “dumbass” as he turned away, and officials issued Morant and Hield technical fouls.

The Warriors went on to win 134-125. Neither player has directly addressed the interaction, but Morant appeared to respond on X, posting, “ja this .. ja that ..” with a crying-laughing emoji Wednesday.
In March 2023, the NBA suspended Morant for eight games after he was seen brandishing a gun on Instagram Live while at a strip club in Glendale, Colo. A month prior, the NBA had investigated an incident in which Indiana Pacers players and staff members claimed Morant’s acquaintances aimed red laser pointers, which they feared came from a gun, in their direction after a game. No discipline resulted from that incident.
Two months later, Morant was seen holding a handgun while riding in the car of his longtime friend, Davonte Pack, on Instagram Live. The league suspended Morant for 25 games.
The NBA does not have a rule against specific gestures, though taunting is considered unsportsmanlike and can result in a technical foul at a referee’s discretion. The league has fined players for making gun-related gestures in the past, however. In 2017, then-Phoenix Suns forward Josh Jackson was fined $35,000 for making a gesture toward a fan that appeared to mimic pulling a trigger. And Gerald Green, then with the Miami Heat, was docked $25,000 for making a similar gesture in 2015.
During the Grizzlies’ shootaround Thursday, forward Desmond Bane, who is in his fifth season as Morant’s teammate, was honest about his feelings toward the NBA’s latest investigation.
“I thought it was some B.S.,” Bane told The Athletic. “I think there’s a bunch of players across the league that have adopted that 3-point celebration in games. And for (Morant) to be the one targeted, I don’t think it’s warranted or fair.”
When asked whether Morant is targeted by the league in other ways, Bane explained his observations on believing his teammate is not drawing fouls at the same rate as previous years. This season, according to NBA.com, Morant has attempted a team-high 767 drives, more than the likes of Tyrese Haliburton (747), Austin Reaves (717), Jayson Tatum (689) and DeMar DeRozan, who each played at least 20 more games than Morant this season.
Despite remaining one of the league’s most aggressive rim attackers, Morant’s 6.5 free-throw attempts per game are on pace for his lowest single-season average since 2020-21, the season before he earned his first career All-Star selection and won Most Improved Player honors. With that being said, his attempts this season have increased from 6.1 prior to the All-Star break to 7.3 in 14 games since.
“For sure,” Bane said. “I mean, earlier in the year, I think with the whistle, he wasn’t really getting calls he got in the past. He missed a lot of last season, but he’s obviously a superstar in this league. He wasn’t being treated as such, especially earlier in the season.”
In the grand scheme, Morant’s situation is just the latest development in what has been a trying stretch in recent months for Memphis. Since a 125-112 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb. 8, the Grizzlies are only 9-16, rank 21st among all teams in net rating (minus 2.0) and sit 23rd in the league in defense. Their offense has been middle-of-the-pack in that span (16th), but it wasn’t potent enough for the recently fired Taylor Jenkins to remain as head coach. First-year Memphis assistant Tuomas Iisalo was tabbed as the interim head coach with the Grizzlies preparing for their fourth consecutive playoff appearance.
Despite the team’s turbulence, Bane remains optimistic that Memphis can find its footing and finish the regular season strong. He also acknowledges the challenge of the team moving on from Jenkins, whose 250 wins as Grizzlies coach mark a team record, with the postseason so close.
On Thursday, the Grizzlies will face the Miami Heat (35-41, season-high straight wins). Memphis enters that matchup with a 44-32 record and sits eighth in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies’ record is tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves (sixth in the West) and LA Clippers (seventh), but tiebreakers leave them currently fighting to avoid Play-In territory.

But Bane is among those on Memphis’ roster ready to drown out the noise and push forward.
“It’s getting better. It’s been an adjustment,” Bane said. “For a lot of us, that was the only coach we ever played for. So, we had to move past it quickly and flip the page. … We’re in a great spot. We know that we have a good team, a good foundation. We’re gonna try to string some wins together. That always helps everything.”

Netflix has had a slew of successes translating the world of sports into compelling series with emotional storylines. Check out the very best titles across a wide range of professional leagues and competitions below.
This 40-minute documentary is a high-stakes snackable dose of sports drama that picks up in the wake of Lewis Hamilton’s shocking departure from the Mercedes F1 team after twelve years and six world champions, and follows 18-year-old Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s promotion to the most prestigious racing league in the world.
It’s a great supplement to Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive to Survive series which exploded the league’s popularity, and proved that the elite racing community could deliver as much drama as the Real Housewives. An excuse to see Mercedes Team Principal and F1 zaddy Toto Wolff in his crisp white button down is reason enough to queue this title up.
The riveting story of one woman’s journey to overcome gender stereotypes in rural Nepal and follow her dreams of becoming a professional mountaineer, achieving historic success summiting Mount Everest ten times, the current record for female climbers.
Spanning Sherpa’s life from childhood to motherhood, an abusive marriage, and her immigration to the United States, we see her perseverance and determination impact her life on and off the mountain. Thoughtful attention is paid to her Nepalese roots and the Sherpa culture, and her effort to impart both to two daughters as they grow up in Connecticut.
Following the massive success of Formula 1: Drive To Survive, Netflix took a stab at humanizing the world of professional golf. By following major names like Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler and others on and off the course, the series was able to generate compelling suspenseful storylines around a sport without the fights, fouls, or impact of the NHL, NBA, or NFL.
The series explores player friendships and rivalries, the expanding diversity of the league, and the growing tension between the PGA-Tour and Saudi-funded LIV Golf league to provide a modern, nuanced, and evocative view on one of the world’s oldest modern sports.
A household name that simultaneous represents an international soccer career, a high-profile marriage, fashion icons, and pop culture sensations, this documentary literally has something for everyone familiar with the family whether you’re a sports fan or not.
The journey through Beckham’s career from childhood to present day was especially riveting for an American viewer like me who grew up in during his rise to fame and didn’t have previous knowledge of highs and lows, wins and losses. The game clips and interviews with Victoria Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson felt like experiencing 30 years of sports and pop culture suspense at once.
The Drive To Survive team strikes once again with another behind the scenes series, this time focused on the world of international tennis. Featuring participation from ATP and WTA pros like Nick Kyrgios, Frances Tiafoe, Alexander Zverev, Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Świątek, and Coco Gauff, the series not only exhibited balanced coverage of men’s and women’s sports, but the physical and mental tolls of training.
Like it’s sister F1 and PGA series, Break Point focuses on the interpersonal relationships between pros, career highs and lows, as well as the immense pressure fame and media attention bring to competing at such an elite level.
The epic 10-part series covering the Chicago Bull’s 1997-98 NBA season as they pursued their sixth championship during Michael Jordan’s final season with the team, brought together over 500 hours of unseen footage, along with in-depth interviews with players, coaches, and other commentators.
The film also covers Jordan’s journey to super-stardom, along with his first retirement after his father’s murder, and pivot to pursue a career in baseball. As with the Beckham documentary, it provided an incredible opportunity for younger sports fans to relive the magic of not just an epic career, but an entire era of basketball.

UFC 316 fight week is here.
O’Malley vs. Dvalishvili 2
UFC 316 is Saturday, June 7 live from Newark, New Jersey. The headliner is a rematch for the UFC Batamweight Championship between the reigning champion, Merab Dvalishvili and the former champion, Sean O’Malley.
The two originally main evented Noche UFC, UFC’s first event in the Sphere arena. O’Malley walked in as champion that night, but did not walk out the same way. O’Malley did walk in with a labrum tear in his hip, that he did get fixed following that loss. Merab on the other hand, went on to successfully defend his title for the first time against the then undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311. Now, five months later, Merab is defending again against Sean in the highly-anticipated rematch.
Recently, O’Malley sat down for an interview with UFC commentator, Jon Anik. During the interview, Sean was asked what he thought of Merab’s defense against Umar, to which he admitted Merab is a beast.
Merab’s an animal, he’d a beast. He’s a- that last performance was very impressive, it was his most entertaining performance and yeah, he did a great job. Umar’s really good and Merab, it was a close fight, Merab kind of, you know, stole it there at the end.
O’Malley continued on to speak about his confidence and how he feels he can beat Merab and will show it Saturday night.
Yeah, I mean, I wouldn’t have… I wouldn’t accept the fight, I wouldn’t have asked for the fight if I didn’t truly believe I could go out there and beat him, I know I can. And I know I will June 7th.
When asked if he was emotionally attached to his first real loss when defeated by Dvalishvili in the first fight, Sean reveals that he now sees this as a new challenge.
I look at it as it’s an exciting challenge. Like, it’s not like something that bothers me throughout the day or like, if this fight ended up not happening ever, it’s not going to bug me. I know I’m better than him. I’m very grateful for the UFC for giving me the opportunity to go out there and fight him again. Same with the Chito thing, it took me three and a half years, I knew I could beat him. I knew there would be a time and a place and that happened. Felt very similar for this fight, I’m like “it’s going to happen sooner or later.” And it’s happening sooner and in very happy with that.
O’Malley seems to be very focused and confident in his abilities when the cage door locks. We’ll see what happens this Saturday night. You can check out the full interview below.

After two days of top-class table tennis, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT successfully defended their title at the 2025 HYLO Champions League Final 4. In the final held at Saarlandhalle Saarbrücken, the reigning champions overcame Borussia Düsseldorf in a repeat of last year’s decisive clash.
This marks Saarbrücken’s third consecutive title, further solidifying their dominance under the Final 4 format. Meanwhile, Borussia Düsseldorf—the most decorated club in the competition’s history—remains on six Champions League titles and six Europe Cup of Champions trophy.
In Saturday’s semifinals, Borussia Düsseldorf secured a convincing win over KS Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki, while 1. FC Saarbrücken TT overcame Polish challengers KS Global Pharma Orlicz 1924 Suchedniów to book their place in the final.
1. FC Saarbrücken TT – Borussia Düsseldorf 3-1
Patrick FRANZISKA – Anton KALLBERG 2-3 (13-15, 8-11, 11-6, 11-7, 5-6)
Anton KÄLLBERG held off Patrick FRANZISKA’s fierce comeback from 0–2 down to win their duel by the sudden death point in the fifth game.
With a strong service-receive game, KÄLLBERG stormed to an early 5–0 lead. FRANZISKA responded with several pinpoint balls into the corners, narrowing the gap and reaching 7–8 from 4–8. KÄLLBERG earned the first game point at 7–10, but FRANZISKA, relying on a strong serve, leveled at 10–10. After saving two game points, the German had his own at 12–11, but it was KÄLLBERG who ultimately converted his fourth opportunity to take the game 15–13.
KÄLLBERG kept up the pressure early in the second game. At 3–1, Borussia called a timeout due to a minor injury to the Swede’s hand. FRANZISKA leveled the score at 3–3 as they returned to the table. The game remained even until 7–7, but in the closing moments, KÄLLBERG capitalized on his first real opening and sealed it 11–8.
With the pressure mounting, FRANZISKA shifted the momentum. He raced to a 6–1 lead in the third game, pushed further to 8–3, and eventually closed it 11–6 on his second game ball. The tide had clearly turned. A 5–1 lead in the fourth game sparked loud cheers from the crowd. KÄLLBERG kept his composure and leveled at 5–5, then 6–6, but FRANZISKA surged ahead once more to 9–6 and closed the game 11–7 to force a decider.
In the decisive fifth game, FRANZISKA led 5–3, but KÄLLBERG stayed calm under pressure and ultimately delivered the first point of the match for Borussia Düsseldorf.
“We had so many matches going back and forth. I think after the second game, Patrick really started to play better. We had great rallies, but I couldn’t finish them. In the end, it’s the one with better nerves that matters,” said KÄLLBERG.
Truls MOREGARD – Dang QIU 3-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-7)
In a match that appeared one-sided from the outset, Truls MOREGARD nullified Borussia’s early advantage and brought the tie back to level terms.
The Swede claimed the opening game without much trouble and maintained the same tempo, closing the second game even more convincingly. In the third, Dang QIU came close at 6–7, but after a timeout, Truls showed no signs of weakness.
“Against QIU, it’s important to be as aggressive as possible. You can’t afford mistakes—you have to do everything right if you want to beat him. I felt good and played well. My service worked fine too,” said MOREGARD.

Darko JORGIC – Timo BOLL 3-2 (17-15, 8-11, 11-7, 2-11, 6-1)
In his final appearance in the Champions League, Timo BOLL delivered a vintage performance, pushing Darko JORGIC to his limits in a fantastic match that showed his enduring class. Although the Slovenian ultimately prevailed, it was a gripping battle throughout.
JORGIC came out firing in the opening game, combining power and precision to establish a 7–4 lead. BOLL responded with composure, saving a game point at 9–10 and creating five of his own. Still, under pressure, Darko held firm and converted his second game point to take the lead.
The second game saw BOLL come out in dominant fashion. He raced to a 7–2 lead and earned his first game point at 10–4. Though JORGIC mounted a brief comeback, BOLL closed it out 11–8.
The third game was a rollercoaster. JORGIC led 5–1, but BOLL fought back to level at 5–5. However, JORGIC held his nerve and finished strong to win 11–7.
In the fourth, BOLL took full control, overwhelming JORGIC with his aggressive play and forcing a decider.
The fifth game began with JORGIC delivering outstanding serves, quickly pulling ahead 3–0. He maintained the momentum and eventually sealed the victory, ending a memorable contest against one of table tennis’s true legends.
Patrick FRANZISKA – Dang QIU 3-2 (11-6, 2-11, 11-6, 7-11, 6-5)
In the clash between two players who had both lost their opening encounters, Patrick FRANZISKA made the better start, but Dang QIU responded with intensity. The momentum shifted again in the third game, as FRANZISKA regained control, racing to a 5–0 lead and maintaining a safe margin to close out the game.
QIU, however, did not back down. With a commanding performance, he forced a decider.
In the fifth game, QIU started strongly, taking a 3–0 lead. The hosts called a timeout, and upon returning to the table, FRANZISKA won the next two points. QIU recovered quickly to earn match point at 5–2, but it was FRANZISKA who ultimately claimed the victory on a sudden death point.

How Prime Video in June 2025 Compares to Other Streaming Services
Prime Video’s June 2025 lineup showcases significant competitive advantages in content variety and subscription value compared to other major platforms, while also introducing new membership options that address recent customer concerns about advertising.
Prime Video vs Netflix and Disney+
Prime Video enters June 2025 with the largest movie catalog compared to rivals, making it an attractive option for film enthusiasts. The platform plans to add over 50 new Prime-exclusive titles in June alone, including the highly anticipated action comedy “Deep Cover” and crime thriller series “Countdown.”
Netflix continues to dominate in original series production but offers fewer new theatrical releases than Prime. Their June lineup focuses heavily on international content, with fewer blockbuster additions compared to Prime’s slate.
Disney+ maintains its stronghold on family content and franchise properties, but lacks the diverse adult-oriented selection found in Prime’s June catalog. The motorsports documentary arriving on Prime will directly compete with Disney’s sports content expansion through ESPN+.
For viewers prioritizing content variety and new releases, Prime Video’s June lineup provides exceptional value, especially considering it comes bundled with other Prime benefits.
Features Compared: Ad-Free Options and New Membership Plans
Prime Video introduced a significant change to its service model in early 2025, now including ads in its default streaming version. Users can opt for an ad-free experience by paying an additional $3 monthly fee.
This pricing structure positions Prime Video favorably against competitors:
Service | Base Price | Ad-Free Option | Total Ad-Free Cost |
---|---|---|---|
Prime Video | Included with Prime | +$3/month | $14.99 (Prime) + $3 |
Netflix | $11.99 (Basic) | Included in higher tiers | $15.49-$22.99 |
Disney+ | $9.99 (With ads) | $13.99/month | $13.99 |
The new membership tiers introduced in May 2025 will continue through June, offering more flexible options for accessing Prime Video’s content. These include a standalone video-only subscription that doesn’t require a full Prime membership.
Customer response to the ad implementation has been mixed, with some users noting that Prime Video’s ad breaks are shorter than those on competitors’ platforms.
Prime Membership Benefits and Support
Prime Video remains unique among streaming services as it’s essentially a bonus added to Amazon’s free shipping service. This bundling continues to provide exceptional value for regular Amazon shoppers.
The complete Prime membership includes numerous benefits beyond streaming:
- Free expedited shipping
- Prime Music access (limited catalog)
- Prime Reading
- Prime Gaming
- Exclusive shopping events
Amazon has enhanced its customer support for Prime Video issues following feedback from May 2025. Members can now request prorated refunds for service interruptions directly through the app.
Technical improvements implemented in late May will carry over to June, including enhanced mobile streaming quality and improved integration with MX Player for Android users in select markets.
For those who use Prime Video primarily for its included content rather than rentals or purchases, the June 2025 lineup significantly strengthens the overall value proposition of a Prime membership.

Indiana continued to expand its list of targets in the 2026 class with an offer to center Collins Onyejiaka.
He reported the offer Friday afternoon on his social media pages.
The 6-foot-10 and 270-pound Onyejiaka is a 4-star at 247Sports, and the No. 6 overall center in the class according to that outlet.
Onyejiaka is a product of Nigeria. Playing for Newman H.S. in Boston, he averaged 9.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks as a high school junior.
247Sports national analyst Dushawn London wrote this about him as that outlet moved him up 23 spots in the rankings in January:
“One of the most physically imposing big men in his class. Standing at 6-foot-10 and weighing 270 pounds, Onyejiaka combines his size and strength to dominate on both ends of the court. The aggressive rebounder excels at securing boards and controlling the paint with his size. Offensively, he’s powerful finisher who plays with a high motor. Defensively, he doesn’t give up on plays and is a shot-blocking threat.”
For spring and summer basketball, Onyejiaka plays for the New England Basketball Club on the Made Hoops Circuit.
Onyejiaka also has offers from Alabama, Illinois, Providence, Ole Miss, Georgetown, Iowa and West Virginia.

Big Mouth – Netflix

The final season of Big Mouth is officially here on Netflix, and I’m lowkey in my feelings. This has been my comfort show for years. I can rewatch every season and still laugh like it’s my first time. In case you’re late to the party, this show follows a group of pre-teens navigating the chaos of puberty with the help of their assigned “Hormone Monsters”—wild, unfiltered creatures only they can see. It’s a cartoon, but trust me, it is not for kids. It’s super raunchy, but honestly, pretty spot-on when it comes to the wild thoughts teens really have. You’ll definitely crack up at Connie, the Hormone Monstress (voiced by Maya Rudolph) ,who in my opinion, makes the show. The kids are diverse and hilarious in their own right, especially Missy Foreman-Greenwald (voiced by Ayo Edebiri), a biracial girl in their crew who once tried getting cornrows to connect with her Black cousins. This final season wraps up their puberty journey as they get settled in high school.—Alexis Felder
We Beat The Dream Team – HBO Max

Sports documentaries on major events and much-talked-about controversies are all well and good, but ESPN really gets in its bag when it comes to niche rumors that require proper investigative storytelling. Now, they’ve done it again with We Beat The Dream Team which tells the tale of how a bunch of college kids like Chris Webber, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, and Allan Houston served as a practice squad tasked with making sure the Dream Team were up to snuff and ready to represent the USA at the 1992 Olympics. Narrated by Hill, we hear the story of how the collegiate squad beat a team led by Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird in the first scrimmage, with some hazy truths that even Coach K refuses to corroborate 30 years later.

The Handmaid’s Tale — Hulu

The Handmaid’s Tale is a television adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name. The show stars Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne/Offred, the show’s central narrator. Much of the show takes place in Gilead, a secessionist version of America ruled by Commanders who employ “handmaidens” to bear them and their spouses’ children after much of the world is unable to produce children due to pollution and other factors. The show gained high marks for its strong acting, dark but realistic premise, and the adventures of June and her journey in rejoining her family in freedom under an oppressive patriarchal system. Starring alongside Moss are O-T Fagbenle as Luke Bankole, June’s husband, and Samira Wiley as Moira Stand, June’s best friend. The show also stars Amanda Brugel, Amanda Brugel, and Zawe Ashton.
