Jake Paul Just Called Ronaldo One of the Most Overhyped Athletes Ever

Jake Paul Just Called Ronaldo One of the Most Overhyped Athletes Ever

Stadium Talk

Jake Paul isn’t new to controversy, but his latest move lit up the sports world like few others. In a clip that went viral, the social media star rattled off a list of athletes he believes are, in his words, “overrated.” Shockingly, the names included legends, champions, and household favorites.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Paul knew this pick would upset millions. He even said so before dropping Cristiano Ronaldo’s name. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored over 800 goals, won titles in England, Spain, and Italy, and just helped Portugal win another Nations League. Yet Paul shrugged all that off. To him, Ronaldo is overhyped. He didn’t elaborate, but calling one of the sport’s most consistent icons overrated? That did plenty on its own.

Anthony Joshua

Credit: Instagram

Once a unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has lost steam lately. Paul didn’t waste time calling him out, especially after Anthony’s knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024. While Anthony hasn’t fought since the Dubois bout, Paul believes the boxer’s name still carries more weight than his recent performances justify.

Conor McGregor

Credit: Instagram

Despite being one of the UFC’s most famous figures, Conor McGregor hasn’t won a fight in more than five years. That’s the stat Paul leaned on when dropping Conor’s name. Their rivalry is well-documented, and the two have teased a future clash.

Canelo Alvarez

Credit: Instagram

Paul isn’t impressed that Canelo Alvarez has held titles in four weight classes. He’s been vocal about it, especially after a rumored fight between the two fell through. Canelo instead signed a deal with the Riyadh Season series. Paul views him as a legacy fighter whose current relevance is inflated. For someone with nearly 60 pro fights, Canelo still couldn’t dodge this jab from Jake.

Ryan Garcia

Credit: Instagram

Ryan Garcia’s recent headlines haven’t helped his case. Paul criticized the boxer for his high expectations and underwhelming follow-through; even his win over Devin Haney was overturned due to a failed test. For Paul, Ryan’s image as the future of boxing never quite matched the reality in the ring.

Babe Ruth

Credit: ebay

It’s not every day someone calls Babe Ruth overrated, but Paul did exactly that. Ruth’s seven World Series wins and 714 home runs are etched in baseball history. But Paul pointed to the era Ruth played in, long before modern training, competition, or television, as a reason to question his legacy.

Dak Prescott

Credit: Wikimedia Commons

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback made the list, probably for one glaring reason: his playoff record. At 2–5 in the postseason, Dak Prescott hasn’t lived up to the hype he now earns, at least according to Paul.

Tua Tagovailoa

Credit: Instagram

Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa was another NFL name Paul went after. He’s shown flashes of brilliance, but injury setbacks and an uneven career arc likely made him an easy pick. Tua ranked among the NFL’s top 100 players in 2023, but that didn’t stop the influencer from calling him out.

Trevor Lawrence

Credit: Instagram

Even the football star’s potential hasn’t shielded him from criticism this harsh. Trevor Lawrence came into the NFL as a can’t-miss prospect. After being drafted first overall in 2021, he led the Jaguars to one playoff win and a division title in 2022. Still, his 20-30 career record and $55 million annual salary were enough for Paul to call him “overpaid and overrated.”

Anthony Edwards

Credit: Instagram

Though relatively young, Anthony Edwards is already turning heads in the NBA. He won Olympic gold in 2024 and made history with the most single-season three-pointers in Timberwolves franchise history. But Paul still put him on blast. He didn’t go into detail, but some believe the controversial influencer is jumping the gun here. Considering he’s only 23, Edwards might make Paul regret this pick in a few short seasons.

Tommy Fury – Honorable Mention

Credit: Instagram

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury shared one of boxing’s most hyped grudge matches in 2023. The latter won by split decision, but Jake downplayed the loss, calling Tommy “basic” and “overprotected.”

Nate Diaz – Honorable Mention

Credit: Instagram

When Jake Paul fought Nate Diaz in 2023, it was more like an internet crossover than a real boxing match. Diaz, an MMA legend, looked out of place in a boxing ring. Jake won on points but later dismissed Nate’s performance as sluggish and outdated. Despite Nate’s cult following, Jake doesn’t buy the hype.

Logan Paul – Honorable Mention

Credit: Wikipedia

Even brothers aren’t safe. Jake has occasionally jabbed at Logan Paul’s combat credibility, especially after Logan’s exhibition with Floyd Mayweather. While Logan shifted toward WWE and PRIME hydration deals, Jake hinted that Logan’s fight record and ring skills don’t live up to the spotlight he enjoys.

Ben Askren – Honorable Mention

Credit: Instagram

Jake Paul knocked out Ben Askren in under two minutes back in 2021, but the drama didn’t stop there. The influencer often mocks Askren’s physique and downplays the win, saying it proved how overhyped the former MMA wrestler was as a striker. Askren’s decorated MMA résumé didn’t impress Jake.

Dillon Danis – Honorable Mention

Credit: Instagram

Before his boxing debut, Jake Paul called out Dillon Danis repeatedly, even pelting him with water balloons during an infamous drive-by taunt. Danis talked plenty but never signed a contract. Paul took that as proof of bluffing.

Fans are calling for the removal of a Little League Softball coach after a controversial video went viral on social media over the weekend.

A video of a Little League coach getting physical with one of her players is going viral on social media, sparking a major debate among sports fans. The video came from a Little League Softball game between Delaware and New Jersey.

One fan watching the game on ESPN said they noticed the behavior and immediately wondered how they would react if that was their kid.

“Woah. Watching ESPN and Little League Softball… I think I’d be losing my mind if I saw someone do this to my kid. Thoughts?” one fan wrote on social media over the weekend.

Video of the incident, in which a Little League softball coach got physical with one of her players, is going viral on social media this weekend.

Some fans are defending the move, as it turned out that the player in question was the coach’s daughter.

Others, meanwhile, believe that it was wrong – no matter who the player is.

“Regardless of anything else, she wouldn’t coach another game. Ever,” one fan wrote.

“EVER,” one fan added.

“I do not think it’s ever acceptable,” one fan added.

“It’s never good to put one’s finger/hand on anyone, period! It’s a bad look even if it’s her kid!” one fan added.

“Nothing like adults in the comments cheering child abuse. There’s nothing right about what the adult did here. Terrible. Someone report it,” one fan added.

Other fans, meanwhile, seem to think that the reaction from everyone in the video showed that it was common.

“Not a fan of this but the lack of reaction by the other players and the other coach lead me to believe this is fairly common practice by this coach or slime possibility something completely out of pocket was said,” one fan added.

Lakers' Luka Doncic Going Viral for Shocking Body Transformation

The Los Angeles Lakers have been very invested in getting Luka Doncic into better shape this offseason. After how poorly he played defense and how tired he looked against Minnesota in the playoffs, it has been their top priority.

Doncic has never been the most fit player in the league. He is still one of the best players in the league, but he could be a lot better if he were less tired at the end of the season.

So far this offseason, it looks like Doncic has been committed to the training program that the Lakers put him on. He looks like an entirely different player.

More news: NBA Insider Reveals Why Bradley Beal Spurned Lakers for Clippers

A video of Doncic has been circulating online, showing off his body transformation.

The Lakers would be thrilled if Doncic were able to stay this fit all year long. He needs to be able to play better defense now that he is the face of the franchise, and that could be abetted by improved lateral quickness.

A big reason why the Lakers lost to the Timberwolves in the playoffs is because of their inability to stop guards from penetrating the paint. The starting backcourt is not a good defensive one.

Doncic isn’t the only one to blame for poor perimeter defense. Austin Reaves isn’t the best defender, either. The difference with him is that he at least tries to be in the right spot on defense.

At times against the Wolves, he was too tired to actually stay in front of some of the players who were attacking him. A large part of Minnesota’s game plan was to get Doncic switched on to Anthony Edwards.

The Lakers would be in a great position to contend for a title if Doncic could stay in shape for an entire season. Based on this video, he has a renewed commitment to doing that.

Doncic likely has extra motivation to show the Dallas Mavericks what they decided to trade away. He wants to prove them wrong for deciding to get rid of him.

After he was traded to the Lakers, Doncic averaged 28.2 points per game, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game. He shot 43.8 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.

Athletics broadcaster apologizes for disastrous home run call that went viral

The Athletics are a team without a home. The franchise is no longer playing in Oakland. Instead, they play in Sacramento while they wait for their new home in Las Vegas to be built.

The A’s may not have a new permanent home just yet, but they do have a legendary name in the broadcast booth. Chris Caray is on the call for the Athletics on NBCS.

RELATED: After 12 years without trial, Astros’ $615 million legal battle ends in one day

I was today years old when I discovered we have another Caray in the broadcast booth. Chris’ great-grandfather is the late, great Harry Caray, and he is the son of Chip Caray, who currently works in the booth for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Unfortunately for Chris, I discovered who he is after one of the worst home run calls in the history of the game. Take a listen below.

For those keeping score at home, A’s centerfielder Lawrence Butler hit a rocket over the right field fence that wasn’t even close to the foul pole. However, Caray jumped on X to explain the unforgettable call.

Caray said he lost the ball in the lights, but it was no excuse for what has now become a memorable call for all the wrong reasons. No worries, Caray. If this is the worst thing that can be done in 162 games, then you’ll be fine.

Real Madrid players receive huge bonus — despite PSG thrashing

Real Madrid will reward their players for their Club World Cup campaign — even though it ended in disappointment at the hands of PSG.

According to Marca, each player received a €280,000 bonus for reaching the semi-finals of the tournament. The amount was reportedly negotiated directly by the team captains, despite the crushing defeat to Paris Saint-Germain still fresh in fans’ minds.

High expectations, disappointing finish

Club president Florentino Pérez had set a clear objective for the team: win the Club World Cup. But the performance fell short. Real Madrid struggled throughout the competition and were knocked out by PSG, with Kylian Mbappé sidelined due to illness.

Still, the club opted to honour its bonus agreement, recognizing the team’s effort in reaching the final four — even if the result didn’t live up to the standards in Madrid.

Five Man Utd players destined for Ruben Amorim's bomb squad

There’s never a quiet window at Old Trafford and the Manchester United bomb squad is alive and kicking in 2025.

Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony were all left out of the pre-season tour to the United States. Each one is expected to be moved on before the window closes.

With fresh faces coming in and Ruben Amorim already making his mark, we’re looking ahead to the next crop of players whose futures suddenly look a little uncertain.

Andre Onana

There’s been a steady stream of goalkeeper rumours for over a year now, but Onana’s still standing.

He’s going on tour, conducting himself well, and for now, Amorim seems happy to keep him around.

That doesn’t mean the noise has stopped. United are expected to bring in a new keeper before the end of the window, and it’s not hard to imagine Onana slipping down the pecking order if things go badly.

He’s shown flashes of brilliance since arriving from Inter, but the mistakes have stuck just as long in the memory. That’s fine when there’s no alternative.

But less so when there’s someone younger, calmer and more consistent waiting on the bench. Altay Bayindir was never that, or the Cameroonian may already have been ousted.

Onana has survived the first cull. But if United do find their long-term solution between the posts, he could quickly find himself in the bomb squad.

Casemiro

Casemiro deserves respect. He arrived as a five-time Champions League winner and, at times, helped steady a crumbling midfield. But it’s fair to say the legs aren’t quite what they were.

United struggled badly in transition last season, with Casemiro often caught too high, too slow, or both.

When Amorim experimented, you could have put the Grand Canyon between him and Bruno Fernandes.

Things looked more balanced when Manuel Ugarte came in and freed up Bruno to push higher. But regardless of who you pair him with, the writing is on the wall.

He’s not out in the cold yet. But Amorim wants energy and control in midfield, and that could leave little room for a 33-year-old who’s slowing down.

Casemiro’s experience still counts for much, though if the plan is to press high and move the ball quickly, he will be left behind quickly.

Kobbie Mainoo

Mainoo has all the tools. He’s composed on the ball, picks a pass, and carries himself like someone who is mature beyond his years.

But English football has a habit of eating its young. Mainoo was being touted as a generational talent before he’d even played 20 senior games, and then came the reality check.

Injuries didn’t help last season. He missed a big chunk of the year, and when he returned, Ruben Amorim had other ideas for his double-pivot.

There’s been talk of interest from Tottenham and some quiet noise around contract expectations. It’s just whispers at this stage, but you know the saying about where there’s smoke.

The England international isn’t in trouble yet, but with United hoping to reshape their midfield, he needs to figure out exactly where he fits.

Luke Shaw

Shaw’s United story has never been straightforward.

From that brutal double leg break in 2015 to questions over fitness and form, it’s been a career of flashes and frustrations.

After 11 years and 28 separate injuries, he might be ready to call it a day. Reports suggest he’s open to a move to Saudi Arabia, and it wouldn’t be a shock.

He turns 30 this month, has two years left on his deal, and is facing increasing competition with the addition of Diego Leon to the fullback ranks.

Patrick Dorgu and Leon are both younger, fitter, and more aligned with what Amorim wants from his full-backs. Even Diogo Dalot has operated on the left.

It’s hard to see where Shaw fits, especially if the Red Devils go all-in on a high-pressing, high-intensity system.

Joshua Zirkzee

Zirkzee arrived with a decent reputation and a lovely touch, but strikers tend to be judged on goals, and that isn’t the main feature of his game.

He went from the opening day of last season through to December without scoring in the league, and rumours of a January exit came and went.

Still, the question remains: is he really what United need?

He’s great at linking play, drops into pockets, and doesn’t mind doing the dirty work. But for a team trying to become more direct and dangerous in transition, there will be better options.

It’s also worth acknowledging that Amorim didn’t sign him; Erik ten Hag did.

Rasmus Hojlund, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are more capable in forward areas, and one more striker could yet arrive.

He’s not out of the picture just yet, but minutes should become scarce, so don’t be surprised if he drifts into the bomb squad zone.
