Jake Paul will face a former boxing world champion for the second time in his career when he takes on Julio César Chávez Jr. on June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Paul vs. Chávez will stream on DAZN worldwide.

Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) won a one-sided unanimous decision over legendary former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson in November. A record 65 million households tuned in to the lackluster action on Netflix, as the 58-year-old Tyson landed just 18 punches in eight rounds. It was Paul’s fifth consecutive win since a split-decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023.

Chávez (54-6-1, 34 KOs) is the son of legendary Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Sr. Although Chávez Jr. has won a world title in boxing, his career in the sport has been underwhelming.

He won the WBC middleweight title in 2011 and made three successful defenses of the belt before losing the championship to Sergio Martinez in 2012. Chávez lost a shutout to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in 2017.

In his next significant outing against Daniel Jacobs, Chávez incited a small-scale riot at the PHX Arena in Phoenix. The Mexican was five pounds overweight at the official weigh-in for the contest and quit on his stool after five rounds, much to the disappointment of his father, who famously put his head in his hands after learning of his son’s decision.

Chávez, 39, ended a two-and-a-half-year layoff on the Paul vs. Michael Perry undercard in July, winning a decision over the former UFC fighter Uriah Hall.

Chávez and Jake Paul share one common opponent: Former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva. Paul won a unanimous decision over Silva in October 2022, while Chavez Jr. lost a split decision to Silva the year before in Mexico.

In the night’s co-feature, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez will defend his unified WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles against mandatory challenger Yuniel Dorticos.

Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs) beat Britain’s Chris Billam-Smith in November in Riyadh to unify the WBA and WBO belts. Dorticos (27-2, 25 KOs) is a former two-time cruiserweight world champion.

The Reverse-coed tournament was comprised of four divisions based on
skill level: B, BB, A and AA. Players of all varieties competed, including University
of California at Davis students and Dixon retirees.

DIXON, CA (MPG) – On April 27, 48 teams competed in
the 2025 Season Opener Revco Doubles Blast at Northwest Park.

The grass volleyball tournament is held annually for
the love of the game, according to Palomino founder Mike Feury.

“I set up open play games all the time, usually in
Davis. We have seven to eight nets most nights and a lot of people come out
from Sacramento to play after work,” Feury said. “Once a year, we run a
tournament in Northwest Park to compete, have fun and get new players to engage
with volleyball.”

Palomino’s Volleyball was founded in 2020 in response
to the COVID-19 pandemic. Volleyball tournaments were no longer being held due
to social distancing restrictions. Thus, once quarantine ended, Feury got to
work. To him, volleyball represents community.

“All my friends are not just volleyball friends; they
are family,” said Feury. “Volleyball gets people together through competition
and a fervor for the game.”

The tournament ended at 2 p.m. April 27 with four teams entering the
playoffs as first seeds. For more information on the next tournaments, visit
palomino.volleyballlife.com or join the Palomino’s Volleyball Facebook group.

The Revco Doubles Blast began at 10 a.m. April 27 at
Northwest Park, West H St. and Parkgreen Drive. Captains met at 9 a.m., with
first serves at 9:30 a.m. Revco is short for reverse-coed, implying that, in
doubles competition, each team is comprised of one man and one woman, and games
utilize a women’s height for the volleyball net. Men remained behind the
10-foot line marker and were not allowed to block.

The tournament had four divisions based on skill level
rather than age. Divisions included B, BB, A and AA. Players of all varieties
attended, ranging from University of California at Davis students in their
early 20s to Dixon retirees in their 50s and 60s.

Samantha Wheeler, a participant in the Coed A
division, has been playing volleyball for years.

“For Palomino’s, I have played for eight to 10 years but
I have been playing volleyball since I was a small kid and in college,” said
Wheeler. “I also coached volleyball for a couple of years and wanted to keep
playing. With Palomino’s, getting games is so accessible now.”

On April 27, 48 teams competed in the 2025 Season
Opener Revco Doubles Blast at Northwest Park, West H St. and Parkgreen Drive.
Palomino’s Volleyball, a tournament organizer from Sacramento, sponsors the annual
event in Dixon.

The tournament ended at 2 p.m. April 27 with four
teams entering the playoffs as first seeds. For Coed B, Franchesca Finnigan and
Eric Long went undefeated in pools. For Coed BB, Jordan Fukui and Brianna
Nguyen had two wins and three losses but ended pools as the first seed for
their division. For Coed A, Pardeep Sandhu and Nagisa Villa-Ignacio finished
with three wins and one loss, and in Coed AA, Edward Falefa and Skyler Takeda
were on top.

According to Feury, volleyball is a fountain of youth
that keeps players young and brings them together. Palomino’s mission is to
bring volleyball to the masses.

FORT WORTH – Daniela Alvarez received First Team AVCA All-America honors for her performance this season at the No. 1 spot (25-6), followed by teammates Tania Moreno (14-4) and Hailey Hamlett (23-5), who received second team recognition.

It was Alvarez and Moreno’s fourth All-America accolade and Hamlett’s second. Under Head Coach Hector Gutierrez, TCU has seen 15 selections all-time.

In 2021, Alvarez and Moreno become just the second all-freshmen duo to be named All-American in award history, dating back to 2012. They are the first Horned Frog duo to be named first-team All-American and the first duo from a Texas school to receive such a recognition.

Hamlett has played in the deciding match for TCU’s three conference titles, including the most recent Big 12 Championship.

All three Horned Frogs hit their 100th career win milestone this season. Heading into the NCAA tournament, Alvarez has posted 123 career wins during her time at TCU, making her the most winningest individual in the program’s history. With partner Moreno, the two-time AVCA Pair of the Year (2022, 2023) became the winningest pair for TCU after they hit 100 wins together on April 18.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Redshirt junior Samaya Morin earned AVCA Second Team All-America honors after a strong season with Sun Devil Beach Volleyball, the third Sand Devil in program history to be named an All-American.

For the second year in a row, Arizona State has had at least one All-American after having two last season (Daniella Kensinger and Ava Williamson). Morin is the third to receive the honor and third to be on the second team. This is her first All-America award in her career.

After missing her first season with ASU in 2024 due to injury, Morin came back strong in 2025, compiling a 17-9 record. She played mostly between the No. 1 and 2 courts, earning an 11-6 mark on the top court. She had five wins over pairs from ranked teams, including two top-10 wins over No. 7 Florida State (helping the team get the dual upset) and against No. 2 TCU. The win over the Horned Frogs’ top pair came in the Big 12 Championship Finals. Morin and Ava Kirunchyk swept TCU’s No.1 duo, the first time they had been swept all season. For her efforts, Morin and Kirunchyk were named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team.
