YOUNGSTOWN — James E. Pascarella Sr., 74, departed this life peacefully at Adventure Assumption Village on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family, following a five-year battle with illness.

James was born on Aug. 5, 1950, in Youngstown, to John B. and Virginia Sayavich Pascarella. He remained a lifelong resident of the area.

He commenced his professional journey at Youngstown Steel Door in die setting, later transitioning to maintenance at Fountain Square Apartments until retirement.

James had a passion for sports, enthusiastically supporting his favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Guardians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. An avid lover of the great outdoors, he cherished hunting for ducks, geese, rabbits, pheasants, and deer, as well as fishing at Mosquito Lake, Lake Berlin, and Pymatuning.

Remembering him fondly are his dear wife of over 40 years, the former Lee-Ann Cargill, whom he wed on Oct. 5, 1984; four children, James E. (Nicolle) Pascarella Jr. of Youngstown, Holly L. (Jon) Shabella of Campbell, Andrew J. (Jenna) Pascarella of Poland, and Jamie M. Pascarella of Boardman; four grandchildren, Rocco Pascarella, Giavonna Pascarella, Alyssa Shabella, and Alayna Shabella; a brother, John Pascarella of Youngstown; a sister, Debi Pascarella of Boardman; a godmother, Jane Austrino of Struthers; a godson, John Anthony (Allison) Pascarella; a niece and nephew, Joseph and Melissa Hladun; along with special cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Bryan J. Pascarella; as well as his sister-in-law, Deborah Pascarella.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, located at 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, followed by a funeral service at noon, with Rev. Msgr. Peter Polando officiating.

His entombment will occur in Calvary Cemetery.
