MANAHAWKIN, NJ – The coach of the Johns Hopkins field hockey team, Jane Wells, along with associate head coach James Albanese and assistants Merritt Davis, Britt Walker McNeil, Mikayla Schoff and Siena Urbanski has been recognized as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Region V Coaching Staff of the Year.
This marks the fourth consecutive year and the fifth occasion in the last six seasons that the Blue Jay coaching team has received this accolade from the NFHCA.
Wells and her team guided Hopkins to an overall record of 19-4, including a 9-1 performance in the Centennial Conference. This represents the Blue Jays’ sixth consecutive season achieving at least 19 wins. JHU clinched its sixth successive Centennial Conference championship and secured its sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Blue Jays established a conference record with 47 consecutive regular season conference victories.
Over seven seasons at Homewood, Wells and her staff have directed Hopkins to an impressive 133-22 record (.858) and a remarkable 67-3 (.957) record in the Centennial Conference. Johns Hopkins has produced five Centennial Conference Players of the Year, 33 All-Centennial selections, four NFHCA Region V Players of the Year, 26 NFHCA All-Region selections, and 11 NFHCA All-Americans.
