Statement from the Board of Directors
For more than 25 years, the Jonesboro City Stars Booster Club has been dedicated to providing free or low-cost recreational programming for youth not only in Jonesboro and Craighead County, but throughout Northeast Arkansas. Our mission has always centered on ensuring that every child has access to quality sports and enrichment opportunities.
Over the past several months, the Board has engaged in extensive discussions with the City of Jonesboro to determine the best path forward for the long-term success, stability and transparency of these programs.
Today, we are announcing that the Booster Club will be dissolving as a private, independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and transferring all operational responsibilities to the City of Jonesboro. As part of this transition, all banking accounts, funds and sports equipment will also be transferred to the City of Jonesboro.
This decision was made with careful consideration and with the best interests of our youth and community at heart. We are confident that this transition will strengthen the structure of local recreational programming and enhance transparency in the operation of youth sports across the city.
We are deeply grateful for the volunteers, families, coaches and community partners who have supported the City Stars mission for more than two decades.
We look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of these programs under the City’s leadership.
