TULSA, Okla. – The Kansas State men’s golf team finished in the top half of the 2025 Big 12 Championship as the Wildcats recorded a final-round score of 8-over par 288 on Thursday at the par-70, 7,556-yard Southern Hills Country Club.

K-State finished in eighth place with a 72-hole score of 38-over par 1,158. The Wildcats, who out-played their No. 11 seed entering the championship, finished just five shots shy of their first top-five finish in a Big 12 Championship since 2013.

In the ultra-competitive Big 12, which boasts nine teams in the top 50 of the National Collegiate Golf Rankings, K-State was able to score wins over three of those teams in No. 22 Arizona, No. 28 BYU and No. 42 Kansas, while the Wildcats finished a shot behind No. 14 Utah and two shots back of No. 34 Colorado.

“It was a very solid week for us overall,” head coach Grant Robbins said. “I am really proud of how the guys competed for 72 holes on a difficult golf course. This week was a grind both physically and mentally – and I think it showed a little bit today – but these guys gave it everything they had, and that’s all you can ask for. We will take a few days off and look forward to NCAA Regional selections next week.”

Senior Cooper Schultz turned in his second-straight round of under-par golf on Thursday in the final round of his Big 12 Championship career. The Andover, Kansas, product went 1-under par 69 to rise one spot to tie for 29th place at 11-over par 291. Schultz’s round was highlighted by a bogey-free and 2-under par final 9 holes with birdies on a pair of par-4s, No. 10 and No. 12.

After sitting at 15-over par and tied for 66th place midway through the championship, Schultz shaved four strokes off his score and rose 38 places over the final two rounds.

Kobe Valociek, a senior transfer from Virginia Tech, led the Wildcats throughout the championship by carding a 10-over par 290 – which included a 3-over par 73 on Thursday – to tie for 23rd place. It was his best career finish in a conference championship, bettering the tie for 40th place he produced in last year’s ACC Championship.

Another senior, Nicklaus Mason tied with Schultz for 29th place after posting a final-round score of 1-over par 71 that included a pair of birdies on the front 9.

Junior Alex Lindstrom and freshman Erik Sabelström Holmberg tied for 50th place at 18-over par 298.

No. 4 Oklahoma State ran away with the team title thanks to a 72-hole score of 2-under par 1,118 as the Cowboys finished 11 shots ahead of second-place and No. 5 Arizona State. OSU’s Preston Stout rose three spots on the final day to claim the conference’s individual title at 3-under par 277. He finished two shots ahead of Arizona State’s Conor Williams, the only other player to conclude the championship under par.

Kansas State, which came in at No. 59 in the rankings on Wednesday, now turns its attention to the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Selection Show, which will be held next Wednesday, April 30, at 12 p.m. (CT) on GOLF Channel. The Wildcats are in search of their third NCAA Regional appearance in the last four years and 10th overall in school history.
