Today, we got a little bit of an update from Kasey Kahne. He is the Honorary Pace Car driver for today’s Cup Series race at Texas. While he was on the pre-race show talking to the FOX guys, he was asked about his NASCAR future. Will we see him back in a stock car soon?
Kasey Kahne keeps saying how much fun he had racing in the Xfinity Series again. One of the best to ever race in NASCAR, Kahne still holds a special place in the hearts of many fans.
When asked about another race in the future, Kahne left the door open. Let’s hope he can get another deal put together.
“It was a lot of fun [racing Rockingham]. I think you know whether it be a chance to, you know, fit a race in again this year, maybe next,” Kahne explained. “Who knows, I hope so.”
It sounds like he really does want to race in NASCAR again. Not full-time, that’s too much. 30+ races a year, and the length of those races. While he’s racing a lot in sprint cars now, he is only ever doing 20-50 laps on a quarter-mile or three-eighths-mile track for the most part.
Right now, Kasey Kahne is in a good spot. He has a championship-winning sprint car team with Brad Sweet. He gets to make a ton of starts in his own sprint car. Now that he has reopened the door to NASCAR, who knows what the future holds for Kahne?
Kasey Kahne makes picks for Texas
During his time in Texas, Kasey Kahne has been racing a little bit in High Limit and of course, he has his pace car duties. He was able to take in Cup Series practice on Saturday and even gave his picks on the pre-race show today.
While he scouted the field his own way, Kahne has solid picks. See what you think.
“I watched practice yesterday for a bit, and I don’t know,” Kahne told the FOX crew. “It’s kind of hard to tell watching practice. I had my phone out and I’m stop watching on my phone to try to see the speeds of everybody. But it looked like to me that Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, I think they looked really good yesterday off my phone watch.”
Christopher Bell has three wins this season. He has not been as good coming off that three-peat stretch, but he hasn’t been terrible. Ryan Blaney is a driver who almost always has speed at these tracks. I think I trust Jonathan Hassler to have that No. 12 hooked up with 50 laps to go.
