WHEATFIELD — Kankakee Valley’s high school Esports teams hosted a charity stream challenge last weekend (Dec. 6-7) to raise money for Riley Hospital for Children of Indianapolis.
The teams played games and performed challenge on stream for 24 hours. They managed to raise $4,062, which is far more than their goal of $3,000.
“Thank you to everyone who watched, cheered the kids on and donated,” KV Esports coaches said. “We are truly blessed to have such a supportive community in our school district and town.”
On the Extra Life platform, KV’s teams are ranked #260 overall of total money raised for 2024.
For the state of Indiana, they are ranked eighth.
“This year also marked a milestone of KV raising over $10,000 for Riley’s since we started holding charity streams,” coaches said.
The teams would like to make a special shout-out to Nick Boersma, Andy Boersma, Diana Boersma and Boersma Funeral Home for the single largest donation they ever received of $1,500.
