LADY CHARGERS PICKED SECOND IN THE NORTH AS VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON POLL RELEASED

New Haven, Conn. (8/20/25) The University of Bridgeport and Thomas Jefferson University have been selected for first place in the North and South Division, respectively, in the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll. The voting was conducted by the conference’s 11 head coaches and the results were announced today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.

Bridgeport (20-10, 13-3 in 2024) shared the CACC North Division regular-season championship a year ago and were quarterfinalists in the conference tournament. Jefferson (15-18, 9-7) finished third in the CACC South before reaching the 2024 conference semifinals.

The Purple Knights received six of 11 first-place votes and topped the North Division with 46 total points. Dominican University New York was given four first-place votes and 40 points for second place, and Post University earned the other first-place vote and was selected for third place with 34 points. Felician University collected 25 points, followed by Caldwell University with 15.

Jefferson claimed six first-place votes and 51 overall points to lead the South Division. Georgian Court University, the 2024 CACC Champion, and Goldey-Beacom College received two top votes apiece. GCU was chosen for second place with 44 points and GBC third with 39. Holy Family University (4th, 33 points) was granted the final first-place vote. Rounding out the South Division balloting was Chestnut Hill College (5th, 31) and Wilmington (6th, 27).

The regular season begins on Thursday, September 4, with all 11 CACC teams getting underway Sept. 4-6. Conference play is slated to start on Sept. 17. At season’s end, the top four teams in each division will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament. The quarterfinals will be held on Nov. 18 at campus sites. Goldey-Beacom will host the semifinals and final on Nov. 22-23 at Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, Del. The CACC champion will automatically qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II East Region Championship.
