ABOUT THE TOPS

  • This season, WKU has achieved a 7-0 record, marking only the third occasion in the program’s history to start this strong. This ties with the 1987-88 team for the second-best beginning in the program’s timeline.  
  • Five players from WKU are currently averaging over ten points per game: Alexis Mead – 14.0 PPG, Acacia Hayes – 13.8 PPG, Josie Gilvin – 12.6 PPG, Destiny Salary – 11.9 PPG, and Mackenzie Chatfield – 10.0 PPG. Throughout the seven games this season, WKU has featured six distinct leading scorers, with Acacia Hayes being the only player to lead twice. Additionally, five different Lady Toppers have reached 20 or more points in a game this season.
  • The Lady Toppers are averaging 15.0 steals per game, placing them seventh in the nation. Four Lady Toppers rank in the top 10 for steals per game in CUSA: Acacia Hayes: 3.83, 2nd; Alexis Mead: 2.86, 5th; Josie Gilvin: 2.29, 7th; Mackenzie Chatfield: 2.14, 9th).    
  • WKU maintained an unblemished record of 6-0 in November. This marks the first time a Lady Topper team has gone unbeaten in a month (at least 3 games) since achieving a 7-0 record in February 2017.
  • This year, five Lady Toppers hail from international backgrounds, making it the most in the history of WKU women’s basketball.
  • In the Conference USA preseason coaches poll, the Lady Toppers were predicted to finish fourth, trailing Middle Tennessee, Liberty, and FIU while outpacing Louisiana Tech, who was placed fifth.
